Default Spyder day time running lights

Do the PDLS plus lights have the "4 dots" as day time running lights? Some cars in stock have the 4 dots but they dont light up. Instead there is just one light on top?

Meybey they are the PDLS or xenons but in the configurator they look completely different. (I dont think it is a reflection since the bottom lights glow as well the back lights in other pics.)

Those in the two pics above are the PDLS+ LED headlights. My car has them. And yes, the 4 dots are what light up as DRL.

Mine looks like the lower one, LED PDLS+

Where are you located? (you might consider updating your profile to show this as there are location specific differences)

I have to think the upper image is from Europe given the shape of the plate.

Both are the EU config!

My guess is that the dots turn off when you turn on high beam?

It would seem that the dots (DRL) turn off when lo or hi beams are on... I had to but a black cloth over the sensor to get them to turn on during the day.

Headlights off position DRL only

Headlights auto-on lo-beam

Headlights turned on to hi-beam

Thanks a lot for figuring this out Westcoast! Nice spec you there.

Was a bit worried how the lights would look. The PDLS plus make the car stand out so much more.

Cant wait for my spyder delivery!

Thanks, glad to help a fellow enthusiast! I love the PDLS lights, pictures rarely do them justice, their structure in the enclosure is a work of art.

And at night they do come alive, such precise lighting making a drive in the dark so much easier and safer, there was no question they would be in my build.

I hope you Spyder arrives soon, don't forget to post a picture or two!

Has anyone been able to get a dealer to turn off their DRLs in the US? I only have the standard lights on my Spyder but I would love to be able to turn off the DRLs. And don't lecture me about safety, etc. since I ride a motorcycle and the headlight comes on when started so it can be seen by distracted drivers.

No way a dealer will agree to do it - DRLs are a federal regulation.

Longtime motorcyclist and even I'm not convinced DRLs do anything for safety. They were good on motorcycles because they were the only thing running DRLs. Now everybody runs them.

Personally I think the DRL's in the 4-point configuration look great on the Porsche, too bad it has been copied by other manufacturers, I used to use to detect Porsche's in the upcoming lane!

I also like some of the other variations like orange/yellow headlight rings or signal lights...

^ Me too on spotting other P cars… but anything that looks good eventually gets copied.

I have the LED PDLS+, and love them. The car looks so mean with them, in my opinion anyway. They're also awesome at night - the Xenons on my 981 BGTS were one of the few things about that car that I didn't like, so the LED option was a must have for my Spyder.

Does anyone know if there's a way to have the DRLs on, and the horizontal lights in the bumper on at the same time?
