I am not saying this will not matter but I did nothing special on my last 2 P-cars with PCCBs - I just took it easy braking for a couple hundred miles and I have never heard a peep from them.

Yea, I don't know for definite either. I have/had 2 cars with PCCBs, one of them, I did a simplified version of this, the other I did nothing. But neither squeaked, so...
The iron ones I had on the GT4 did squeak when cold.

Appreciate all the feedbacks on PCCB. Sounds like PCCB squeak is very rare and is no more so than iron rotors.

Also — if a woman is on her monthly cycle — why would she show up to the studio to shoot the adult scene? Why the heck are we testing a Spyder RS with Cup 2 tires in 38-degree WET weather? This is borderline insanity, and we know just how stupid it is. What possible performance capabilities could they have studied? Wow, they accelerated the car in a straight line and recorded the sound! I guess that’s why the discussion devolved into one about value and price.

So far I have still not learned anything from any of these reviews… Matt Farah’s was decent but he (admittedly) is heavily biased towards (a) manual transmission in his 718 Spyder, and (b) his 718 Spyder by virtue of DeMan 4.5L engine conversion. So that review was also not on the level.

All these reviews do is state in abstract generalization how wonderful the car is, how wonderful other Porsches are, how wonderful the manual gearbox is, and how “best in class” the PDK transmission is.
the weather is like that in the uk, today is 6oc and tonight will be -1. That’s real life in March. So do you only drive a srs in June, July and August and hope it never rains lol.

also the 981 vs 718 GTS remarks were funny, I had a 981 Spyder thought it was a bit **** to be honest. Does your GTS have the sports 20mm lower suspension ? IMO having owned and still own a 718GTS with SPASM it would wee wee all over a 981 Spyder every where. Reminds me of my cayman R days such a great car. I sold my GT3 and loads do in the uk they don’t work for road use. I still own a 718 Spyder and I ran a 997 Spyder for 11 years, the 981 Spyder comes last out all the Spyders by quite a large margin,

I’m aware of the UK weather but there’s no point in doing the review in that weather — spend a few dollars and transport the car somewhere else or just wait.

Yea I disagree completely with your comments about 981 Spyder. Yes my 718 GTS has sports suspension and once again I will say: on the same canyon roads and driving the cars for entire days at a time on road trips, the 718 GTS is not even close to 981 Spyder in terms of grip, body roll, and performance at the handling limit. The 718 GTS falls on its face and has significant body roll. And it makes sense too because the 718 GTS is a hundred or few hundred pounds heavier, and the Spyder has a lower center of gravity since it doesn’t have the added weight of the convertible top apparatus sitting up there (I am comparing the both cars with top down of course). There’s just no chance 718 GTS can handle with 981 Spyder because I drive them both back to back often. I bought a house near those roads specifically so I could enjoy all the cars there.

Sorry you aren’t happy with the way your 981 Spyder performed but I do not think your experience is the majority experience. There are many guys who prefer 981 Spyder even to 718 Spyder and you can read all about that on Rennlist. The 718 platform is “too refined” for its own good sometimes. I am not comparing 981 and 718 Spyder with these comments — I am just pointing out there are many who prefer the former to the latter, and they aren’t crazy either.

Cars and coffee guys like the 981 as it’s cheaper and sounds good that’s it, it fails every where else imo.
doyou have pzero tyres on the 718 and changed its geo ?

the 981 Spyder is a Boxster GTS with a detuned 3.8 nothing more with really crap Gen 1 eps and basic esc !
porsche also changed how they weigh cars so the 981 would have to be weighed and was given in its lightest spec, ie pccb, no radio, etc etc, the new GTS have to be weighed in the heaviest spec, so you cannot compare weights vs the 2 really unless you done your own, both are heavy vs my old modded 987 Spyder which was 1245kg and had 355hp.

again a 981 Spyder would not see where a 4.0 GTS went having owned 17 porkers and have 3 in the stable atm, the 981 Spyder was a bit let down.
hence I own now a 718 Spyder with a few Manthey parts, and sadly just sold my 987 Spyder.
again on track a 981 would not see where a 718 Spyder went which is a more like for like vs a GTS. Hence I own a GTS and a Spyder one manual one PDK, plus other stuff.

if you like it that’s great, I thought it was a bit ****.

I loved the 981 Spyder and including on track and b-roads in the UK. However I felt its suspension was way better on street than track. I liked its “gts feel” with a slightly more gt feeling/sounding drive train (I know it wasn’t a gt engine). Its design ethos actually caused me to dump a lot of the overly track oriented street cars I owned that actually made crap street cars.

that being said I haven’t owned a 718 and almost everyone claims that from base boxster to Srs that they handle considerably better than their equivalent 981s. So I’m excited to eventually experience it for myself. But I still miss my 981 Spyder.

GT4, Spyder, GT4 RS & Spyder RS sound bad from the outside. The problem is the same the sh**** back box from factory, you change it and a nice note appears. In my previous 718 Spyder it lasted 300 miles and changed it. Same happens in GT4RS or Spyder RS, the difference is that inside the cabin the GT3 engine with the intake sound is awesome.

in my 991.2 GT3 I changed the back box for a shark x-pipe, in the 992 GT3 I only have the cargraphic valves controller and sounds really good. Let’s see if the cabin noise is ok with me in th Spyder RS coming on June, if not I will go for this:

What do you mean by “back box” — are you referring to muffler/silencer?

Right, the big rear muffler, GT4RS and SRS share the same sh****, only changes the connection to the over-axle pipes. When I took out I don’t recall the brand but it was a well know exhaust maker that produce the oem for Porsche…the sound note is terrible, you change over-axle pipe and only get the same note but louder, the key in the sound is the rear muffler. However it will never sound like my GT3, I think this is based on the length of the exhaust system compared to the Gt3
