That actually looks better fitted than the stock sizes. Outer rims are not protruding.

more grip is obvious…. Any other pros/cons you have felt?
Besides the slight increase in tyre noises due to wider tyres, I can’t really feel any other cons. The steering feel a tiny bit heavier due to the increase in front tyre sizes as well, the turn in and rides feel exactly the same to me but obviously with better grip. To be exact I will probably need to find out on track or having some extensive driving on mountain roads but we are currently on lockdown so I don’t really have a chance to do it yet, hopefully soon.

Tires look great, did you get the Porsche OE PS4S tires or the generic ones? I think the Porsche PS4S OE tires in those sizes are for the 718 GT4 so they should be good for the GTS 4.0 too.

I got the standard PS4S since they were the only one in stock at that time. I think the GT4 has Cup2s come as standard rather than PS4S? I am not 100% certain on this so please do correct me if I am wrong. I also heard from one of the shops I know really well, they told me Porsche spec tyres are generally wider than standard ones. If that’s true then the additional price for the Porsche spec ones are definitely worth the money.

The Spyder online configurator let's you go for high performance summer tires instead of ultra performance so perhaps that's the PS4S tire option for the car. What's interesting is tirerack actually lists the generic PS4S in that size as having a little bit more tread width than the Porsche OE version. Wonder which version the car would drive better with, you'd assume the Porsche OE tires.

Ahh I see, thank you so much for the correction. As for the tyres I think can’t go wrong with either spec, shouldn’t be that big of a difference either IMHO.

For sure! I have a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 on order, getting it in Python Green so I'm trying to get as much knowledge about the car and mods as I can before it gets here. Could you please upload some more photos of your car with the bigger tires if possible? A photo of the back of the car so we can see how the tires look from that angle would be great!

@kev718gts4.0 - Thanks so much for posting this!

I went in for my 10K oil change last Friday (10K miles in 6 months - I can't stop driving this car! ), they said I only had 2mm of tread left on my rear tires, way under the safe spec, and directed me to get new tires immediately. (Yes, I drive the car in a very spirited fashion, mostly Country Road driving.) So I ordered new stock sized Michelin PS4S, which is what I had, from Discount Tire. But they would take two weeks to come in, due to shortages of supply and shipping challenges.

Then on Sunday after a drive, I noticed a nail in one of my rear tires. Thankfully, it did not go flat, just a slow leak. They could not repair the tire, since there was so little tread thickness left. They couldn't get the 265s any quicker than the two weeks for the ones I had just ordered, but since I saw your thread here, I asked about the 285s, and they found them across town for a replacement yesterday.

Much like in your pictures, they look AMAZING! Honestly this should be the stock size rear tire. (I just did the rears, still 235s on the front.)

I went out for a drive on them yesterday, and they feel much better too. Granted I was on sacrificed traction with only 2mm of tread left on my original, but with spirited driving you could also feel the increase in width of 20mm, it felt more planted through aggressive turns, particularly on bumpy surfaces. I am sold - I will never put 265s on this car again! (Maybe if the GTS 4.0 came with 285 rears stock, Janko and JayEmm wouldn't have been so critical, hee-hee... )

(I have 19" HRE Wheels on order, also plan to do 285 rears with 255 fronts on those, per the Apex fitment chart.)

Haha glad you are enjoying with the 285 setups. I just installed the Techart lowering springs and Cargraphic valve controller, the valve controller literally changes the car so much and I can stop driving it. Before it feels like the car was missing something and now it’s back. The lowering spring surprisingly didn’t affect the ride quality, to me it feels almost identical to stock (I have SPASM) and the stance is perfect right now. The only bad thing I can think of right now is after lowering the car, the 245 295 setup isn’t that flush anymore. Probably need some spacers or new a set of wheels haha.

Could you appreciate any increased understeer with the increase in stagger going from 30-50?

Does anyone know if all '22 GTS 4.0s are coming with PS4S now? I've seen trending that Porsche is using Pirelli less and less on the GTS 4.0s. Or I guess a better question is, has anyone gotten a '22 GTS 4.0 with Pirellis.

My BGTS was delivered in August with PS4S’.
