I got a PADM failure message on my GT4 today with only 2,600 miles on it. I'm out of town for a couple of weeks but it will be headed in for service on Feb 4th. I'll keep everyone posted. -J
2021 GT4 PDK. Was doing a hard track session when I got a warning 'PADM disabled, service required, driving permitted.' Car felt fine and I did several more track sessions and didn't feel any difference.
Quick google search shows this error is related to the dynamic engine mounts. Anyone with track experience have this error? And did you bother doing anything about it?

My take is why wouldn't you take this to the dealer to have them check it out and if required have them repair it...

The warning message is pretty clear.
If I took my track cars back to the dealership every time a warning light came on, I'd never get any driving done. Often times you can repair the part and it will just break again the next you track it. Sometimes its easier to just leave it alone. That's why I'm trying to get opinion of those who have experienced this on track.

Interesting, locally I and my fellow 718 owners have the same engine mounts in our cars with no such failure or suggestion that it a a common problem in these cars even after 1000's of track kilometers...
According to @ICNU there are reports of this failure, I guess my subset of friends have been fortunate thus far.
I stand corrected!

Reason: corrected response to acknowledge wider scope of failure!
No, these mount failures with the sport Chrono option are well documented across the Boxster, Cayman and 911 lines for years now.
The mounts can fail spontaneously for no reason at all. Mine on my 981 was fine one day and shorted out and failed the next, so being on the track or not doesn’t seem to matter.
There have been multiple reports over the years of them failing within days of a new car purchase, or someone replacing one only for the other one to fail shortly thereafter.
Just to clarify though, on the Boxster and Cayman they are only used as transmission mounts because the engine is flipped 180° around from a 911 which uses them as motor mounts.
The part alone is about $1300, and about $1700 with install labor. They are not so easy to remove, and you may need a complete realignment of the suspension depending which parts you have to remove or loosen to get them out

That would be a concern as I have an aggressive track alignment on this car. Even if the dealership replaced the part on warranty, I doubt they would redo my alignment, especially as they refused to do a track alignment in the first place and i had to go third party.
Do you know of anyone that just left the broken part alone?
I drove on mine for more than a year before having it replaced.
These mounts are active at all times to some degree and Porsche calls them “leveling“ devices when looking for error codes or failures
They are constantly sensing the accelerometer data from the car and getting harder/softer in real-time in an attempt to keep the heavy engine and transmission centered within the vehicle during high G maneuvers.
They do firm up over all as the sport or sport plus mode are activated, however it is not a simple on or off as many seem to think
With that being said, I could tell no difference at all in aggressive Canyon carving driving that I did every weekend for more than a year with one of them failed.
The non-adaptive standard mounts are only about $250, so I was considering ditching them all together if I have a second one fail. They would have to be coded out though otherwise you will get the dash warning every start
It’s still operating at its default soft Mode when failed, so it’s not as if it’s torn or completely nonfunctional. It’s just no longer adaptive
21 GT4 with 5200 miles through the infamous error code tonight. I also need my 1 year service so will schedule and report back.. sounds like a bad mount or electrical issue from what I have read.

Subscribed. Interested to learn what is involved in the repair, how long it takes, what is removed. My assumption is that it is a warranty repair - I cannot imagine why it wouldn’t be covered.
Thanks to all for sharing your experiences. Mine is a 2021, and still tucked away for winter storage. It has 3866 miles with zero issues. It will be emerging soon (next week?) since the roads are finally washed clean of salt/winter treatment chemicals.
