I bought my Spyder track insurance today, so she can make her 1st outing to Thunderhill in a couple of weeks (not my 1st outing, just my Spyder’s). I haven’t tried yet, but I don”t think my magnetic numbers will work, what are folks using for reusable, removable track numbers for their car?
License plate brackets from Tom from his site (see pic).
Great product, super easy installation. License plate now floats just a bit off the bumper, but isn’t really noticeable. I actually prefer this as my license plate frame now doesn’t press into the bumper. Included bolts thread into the brackets perfectly, and can remove the plate as many times as desired without fear of wearing out the plastic bumper holes.
I'm seeing this for the first time. what's the point of these? I see it will lift the plate off of the paint, so is the point to prevent the plate from scratching the paint? But will this make cleaning behind (just around the edges at least) the plate harder (or easier)?
The rear license plate bracket is primarily for people who need frequent access to the tow point behind the license plate or are removing the rear plate frequently. People who are tracking the car etc. It is easy to strip the standard license plate bolt holes when taking the plate on/off multiple times. The brackets provide more robust bolt holes.

OOOOOOHHHHH! I was wondering what that hole was. That's a clever place to put it.

This.
Additionally, because I use a license plate frame that covers a section of the annual registration sticker, I plan on removing the plate every year to make sure the new sticker is applied cleanly.
I totally get that the benefits of this product may not appeal to everyone, but it suits my needs really well. When installed, the gap isn't an issue. Sure, dust/dirt, etc can get behind, but it does so even with the standard mounting points, so this just makes it easier to remove, clean, and re-install. There's no impact on the ability to clean around the license plate—good or bad.
Does this product screw into the oem mounting holes as well as double sided tape or is it only the tape? Or perhaps the intent is to use a longer screw that goes through both? I would be leery of relying on the tape alone but I'm likely missing something obvious.

I have a front-mounted plate bracket on my Macan that is held on only with 3M tape at the underside of the front lip - it's been on there for 3 years now, with no signs of loosening....that stuff is remarkably strong, I wouldn't hesitate to use it for the rear..

The brackets are adhered with very high bond 3M tape onto a very flat surface. The brackets aren’t going anywhere on their own, without peeling them off from underneath. Pulling on them yields nothing…whereas I’ve seen a few examples where screws that tapped into the plastic bumper eventually have almost no hold at all.
I can’t speak for Tom, but I believe he designed the “L” shape to maximize the amount of surface area for the double sided tape.
Thanks! I used to just muscle them on, but I’m older now. lol
One of the 1st things I will do is dump the wheel bolts & put in studs. I don’t understand the German carmakers fascination with wheel bolts it seems to be a form of torture for those of us that have more than 1 set of wheels.
Side Air Intake Screens from Radiator Grill Store for my Spyder, whenever it finally gets delivered. I was worried about fall leaves clogging up the intakes, but they will have probably all dropped by the time the car arrives....
