I just want the stock one but without the dots all over it. Anyone know why Porsche decided to put the dots on there? What purpose do they serve?

Dots? It’s a fabric mesh material…

In earlier gens these used to be clear plexiglass; Porsche must have determined that mesh was better for some reason.

This is why I asked my question about buffeting, as I thought Porsche introduced the mesh to allow a certain amount of air flow, but who knows?

ha! Dang you’re right. I never actually touched that part. Out of the rear view it just looks like glass with dots to me. I just put hands on it now and was astonished to find it is indeed a mesh.

and Bob Z. Yes apparently I am not worth $200 + expenses.

Jim, since you are short on cash, you could always just take the mesh one out, presto no dots!

Cost cutting? Weight if you are a purist, assuming mesh is lighter.

I bought plexiglass barriers at work last year and the COVID premium for a few pieces of plastic is insane. Prices were going up by the week.

Maybe even liability since the mesh can be tossed anywhere without risk of damage.

Does that also apply to the Spyder?

Interesting that you say the cabin noise is reduced. How noticeable do you think the difference in sound is? Thanks.
I have a ND Miata. Same roof as 124.

I think what it means with the Fiat is with the high version, it is hard to open and close the manual roof while sitting at the driver seat. Since it blocks your arm from reaching back.

I like this, and it will allow me to get it tinted to match the side windows, but I need to decide if I want the high or low version.

If they had a lower flat version (non-curved) I'd buy it in a heart beat, the less visible the better. Looked at Ferrari 488 and Lamborghini Huracan to see how their wind deflector looks and it is significantly lower. It looks much more subtle. I prefer the not in your face look more.

Agreed. Anyone with pics of the lower version? (specially vs. OEM mesh?)

Installed the high version yesterday, works great and provides a much better view to the rear!

Cheers,
Harry.

Nice, I have the shorter version...just need a car to put it in, after it gets tinted to match the sides ones.
