Small world, indeed. Neat story with good ending.

For me, the pics showed up a few days after cp8.0. And it wasn’t like tyd made it obvious. You basically scroll down and see pics of a car like yours in like 4 stages of build. That is your car. lol They aren’t all together either; you have to hunt around, although once you click on one, I think you can then scroll through them.

Question or two: My SA said that they are getting a GT4 in that was used for Sales training in Atlanta, they only had it there for a month.

What is a sales training vehicle?

Could this mean production is ending (they don’t need the GT4 to train with/for)?

Mine is 4 days out but with the same delivery date. I made my last change about a week ago. My date has already been pushed 3-4 times and I'm not risking it. So, I just checked all the options (no ragrets)

Mine ended up being a "high spec" car, I guess: low $130's. I'm sure PTS and CXX can pump it a lot from there. It should be a keeper, so I didn't scrimp. I'm thinking the only trade I would make would be a spyder rs or MAYBE a PTS touring. Since neither of those is going to happen...it's a keeper.

That's kinda how I went about it. Pretty high spec at $132K (last minute add of the leather seat backs) because I see this car as probably the last high end new car I will spec and order. Spyder RS is not for me for a variety of reasons, not the least of which being the images/renderings I've seen look terrible and I'd never track the car.

Now if the GD thing would hop on a boat already I could really start getting excited.

Same here, mine arrives 07/01 picking up in Riverside. Lmk if you want to get together on some canyon cruises! (I live in SD)

250 mile check-in and official departure from the waiting room. Holding the door open for ADRIFT and the rest of you...

With a few more break-in mile under my belt, I can add to my initial impressions of the GT4 driving experience. I will start by saying each and every time I take it out is an event. It’s just a ton of fun, and thankfully my wife likes riding along. (I thought she may have wished I got a Spyder instead, but we are good.) I will say that SB has grown on me a lot. My original spec was GR before I changed it. SB is just a really 'fun' color to me. There is so much bleh out there on the road. Can totally relate to those of you who chose Racing Yellow, Python Green, or CXX. Also, the configurator makes PCCBs look a lot smaller than they do in person. They are almost clown-car huge. Loving the brakes so far, and glad they aren’t as light as they were on my buddy’s C8. Had one chance so far to use the LED PDLS+ and love them both in functionality and in appearance.

I mentioned in my earlier post on first impressions that I found operation of the parking brake a little awkward. I changed my process to allow it to be released with my foot on the brake briefly to do so, then depress the clutch, etc, etc. However, I find it counterintuitive to push the lever/button forward to lock it and pull back to release it, when that is just opposite to how manual parking brakes worked on the cars I drove in my youth. Nearly every time I end up pushing forward and back until it releases, which it does so on a short delay. I think this is what Industrial Engineers used to call “Negative Transfer” – when operation of a familiar control is reversed. Not a biggy…

I am finding the sight line down the hood, especially in corners, is much more angular than it appears from outside the vehicle. Anyone who has driven a classic 911 is familiar with the elegant rounded fender contours which frame your perspective, with a sloping out of sight center hood line. To my surprise, the sight line on the GT4 looks very angular and almost exotic car-like. Not sure how to describe it other than that. Very modern. Much less obvious from outside the car.

I may get flamed for this observation, but I’m finding the much-discussed gear ratio ‘issue’, especially 2nd, is way overstated in the reviews. Admittedly, I’m still in the break-in limbo of not revving over 5krpm. However, compared to vehicles of not long ago vintage, the power and torque available for shifting at ~5krpm is on par with the total for cars of the recent past – so you can easily find yourself in 4th at a normal highway speed (and certainly not feeling like you should be in 2nd) Admittedly, if I were at a DE and trying to stay in that 6-8krpm sweet spot then things might feel different. However, on normal public highways shifting at more modest rpms is a perfectly fine experience. Thankfully first gear is actually useful too, as I’ve had cars where it was almost unusable, especially for downshifting to do a 180. Stated another way, the car has two personalities: There is the sub 5krpm world where it drives like a very good road car by any standard. The other world (which I have not yet enjoyed) is the upper rpm range where a GT car is born. Hopefully I’ll come to find the gearing ‘feel’ is fine up there too.

I’m not terribly tall, about 6’ 1”. However, I’m starting to find that the shoulder belt is not ideally located for optimal use for me. It occasionally lands on the outside of my shoulder when I extend it, and then I just scooch it over. If I end up doing some DEs I may give serious thought to a real harness system. Does anyone else find the webbing a little light? Could be some bulletproof polymer that they use I guess.

This next observation is a bit embarrassing. I didn’t realize the car had a CD player. I have a lot of old CDs around the house, but just assumed they were becoming relics because we nearly always play our WiFi speakers via Spotify or similar apps. It was only when I was reading the OM that I realized there was a CD player. (And, yes, I read the OM cover to cover.) Perhaps have a laugh at my expense, but do read the manual.

I’m on temporary hiatus because I dropped my car off for PPF and ceramic coating this morning. I do have a question for y’all. Anyone have good or bad things to say about running the PPF along the back bumper line and then just dropping vertically as one gets to the back? Similarly, I’ve asked the installer to run the PPF along the whole rocker panel and then come up and go around the side scoops, following the body-join lines. The back tires certainly do a great job of hoovering everything on the street and throwing it on the back panel. So, I want PPF there, but would prefer the fewest number of lines. (See bumper line in 2nd pic)

Thoughts?

If the country weren’t so damn big, it would be easier to organize RL rallies

Officially out of the waiting room as of yesterday. Took it through a canyon on the way home and this initial drive felt spectacular! Nothing unusual in my build (chalk, black w/ red interior, LWB, no PCCB) but it looks and feels wonderful. It'll be on its way to PPF shortly so I can get through the rest of the break-in miles. Can't wait.

It DOES have a CD player. I asked in another thread, and got no answer. I wonder if that is true across stereo options (ie burmester). Thanks for the review; keep it coming!

It's funny, because there was a flurry of activity over the last few weeks...entering production, then production complete, then waiting on a ride to the port, then on the way to the port...and now I am at Emden, hoping for a short stay.
