I think the silver from the massive brake discs will provide enough detail imo

Why settle for just the shiny carbon background when you can have the whole meal deal...

I don't see grey blobs or any loss of detail here!

For me this became a Goldilocks kind of problem, black was too dark, silver was too bright, and platinum was just right - almost. But almost enough that platinum became my answer given that it looks much better in real life than it does in the renders and in many photos as well.

But, the wheel I really like and might switch to if I end up dissatisfied with the platinum once I get the car in hand are these HRE R101 Lightweights in Brushed Dark Clear. At $9600 + tax + shipping they aren't cheap so I'm going to give the stock platinums a fair shot first. and see how I end up liking them. As a plus the both the standard and the lightweight ones are lighter than the stock wheels. The front HREs in lightweight are only 16 some odd pounds as I recall!

I had the HRE P101's in brushed clear (not dark) on my Agate 991.1 and they really fit the car nicely.

Here's a stock HRE photo of that design and finish.

And here's how they looked in non-darkened clear brushed on my 991.1 4S. You can opt for the painted HRE logo like I did here in a color to match the brakes - black, red, and yellow + a few others.

This is very true, the configurator doesn't do well with accurate colour reproduction, it makes Platinum Satin look like flat battleship grey, which of course it is not. The (untouched) picture I posted above of my car shows Platinum Satin as it really looks and shows off the style and curves of the spoke design...

That's the power of photo editing. The exposure is turned way up. See how blown out the background is? Even the center cap crest is starting to blow out.

Stop... there was no photo edit, just the camera exposure set to meter on the wheel not the background, the human eye see's it the same way, nothing artificial here.

You don't like Platinum Satin, I get it but your description is based on your perception or possibly the configurator, you apparently need to see these in real life... and let others decide for themselves.

The pic is over exposed, edited or not. I have seen them in real life. I get that you like them and you want everyone to like them. That's great.

I think your pic here is more representative.

Hah! I was going to use this picture for @smegman but wanted one that showed the PCCB rotor as shiny! Still lots of details and no grey-blob effect either, thanks!

As for liking them, I do, do I care whether others do, not in the least, in fact the less people that opt for them serve to make mine more unique. I have no interest in convincing others, just the honest portrayal of what the wheels look like and so the round that out here is another un-touched photo with overcast/foggy lighting, I think the wheels stand on their own, show plenty of details and differentiate themselves nicely from the black tires...

And to close out, all good here!

That's my one! I can't wait to get it back after PPF and drive it. The wheels look brighter in person, I'll post a few pictures to help anyone deciding.

This is the best of a rushed set of pictures when I collected it.

Looks amazing.

Honestly, the 718 GT4 has such great lines and the body shell is so ON POINT, that it looks amazing in any color (san that stupid plum color).

And I LOVE the satin platinum wheels, they look the best to my eyes regardless of color. Black wheels are so played out and look cheap to me, and silver is too bright and cheapens the look as well.
