Great thread everyone. I sold my 991.2 GT3 manual earlier this year and miss it tremendously. I am close to trying to get an allocation for a Spyder and am torn on Shark Blue, Silver Rims, and Speed Blue deviated sticking or Shark Blue, Aurum Rims and yellow stitching (which PCCB, yellow seat belts and sport chrono). I think the Aurum wheels could look incredible and more unique, but haven't seen them in person, especially with Shark Blue. Anyone have pics or order one like that?

Thanks for posting this. I've been wanting to get a feel for the Orange stitching which my OPC hasn't a sample for.

What's everyone's feeling on Shark Blue paired with the Orange contrast stitching. I'd have gone for Lava Orange stitching but it's not offered on the Spyder.

Thanks!

I decided to opt for a GT4 with Shark Blue, Speed Blue extended deviated stitching, and the Miami Blue seat belts (although I wish there were a darker option for the belts). Since I also opted for PCCBs I was highly tempted to go with the yellow stitching too, it looks great both in photos and in real life, but I decided to stick with the blue bits. I've also noticed that the GT3s driven by both Chris Harris and Jay Leno in their reviews also had what appears to be Speed Blue deviated stitching. If the car went into V260 last Friday as planned, then hopefully I'll get the car mid-September and I'll share some photos to see how well all that blue works. I also also opted for the leather steering wheel and with extended deviated stitching it will also have the blue stitching. I'm also thinking the blue and leather will be easier to keep looking clean.

On the wheels subject I frequently went back and forth on silver vs platinum. I thought Aurum looks pretty nice too on its own but took it out of contention since I didn't think it would work as well with the PCCB calipers. I ended up with platinum but find myself considering going with smoked brushed dark clear HREs eventually (I've had their brushed clear before and loved them - P101s).

It's harder to find photos of blue deviated stitching than I would have expected so if someone here has that to share I'd love to see it. These are some screenshots of the little snippets I saw in the Chris Harris GT3 video. It's hard to see in video but I'm thinking it will look much nicer when viewed in person.

The following are from the GT3 launch photo set via NetCarShow.com Great source as a one stop shop for press photos from all OEMs.

Re: Shark Blue seatbelts. They will be an option and can be spec'd for orders being built from Nov on, IIRC. Mine is a Nov build and will miss the window.

I just went to VW and spent about 15 minutes looking at a Cornflower GTI outside. Shark blue is a lot lighter than the configurator makes it out to be. Personal pref, I think voodoo a bit better but I like it better than mexico. Also, when i rounded the corner out back looking for it it was like BAM!, there it is!.

I'd say this picture is probably the closest to how it looked in direct sunlight.
This is also why I switched my order from SB to GT Silver. I saw a VW in real life last week in Cornflower Blue and it was a shade too light for my tastes. I don't think it is as close to VB as photos depict in sunlight. I really prefer the darker blues such as Club Blau. Rekon a GT4 can carry SB better than a GTS. My advice would be to go and look at a VW Cornflower Blue car, for me it was a bit to 'pastel' in sunlight.

There seem to be a number of other manufacturers running similar blues to SB now (VW, Toyota, Lotus).

Yeah, there are a few Lexus UX and Toyota SUVs in my work parking lot that look very similar to cornflower blue (shark blue). I still think it’s a beautiful colour, but I ultimately decided against it because it is a bit too common for the price Porsche charges.

+1
Too my eye the 718 lines/shadows become a bit hidden in SB too. Its a great colour, but for me this car is likely a long term proposition given the influx of EV's, hence a switched to boring, but classic silver. My current F80 M3 is Silverstone too, so double as boring

Thank you for posting those photos and info. That’s just what I wanted to see. Now I’ll have to decide whether to pony up the extra bucks to retrofit them once they become available. (Maybe a pricey Christmas gift to myself?)
I wonder if they’ll make the door pulls available in Shark Blue too? Any intel on that? Right now I’m expecting mine to be gray.

Wow, thanks so much for posting this. I’ve been searching daily for the first Shark Blue deliveries and you found it first! It looks fantastic on the 718 form, IMO, and super excited to receive my BGTS.

Hell to the effing yeah!!!! That looks amazing and really relieves my nervousness about ordering the color!!! That is friggin beautiful!! It has more "shine" than I would have thought. The configurator makes it look flat.....likely because there is no natural/ambient light in the configurator. I went with black calipers and wheels and yellow deviated stitching and dials and belts. Should be awesome against that color!!!

That's not an accurate representation of SB. Suggest you go and have a look at it at a VW dealer if you can. Not saying SB isn't a great colour, but if you are expecting it to look that dark then you may be in for a surprise.

I am not expecting it to be that dark. In fact, I am glad it won't be. The GT3 renders the color well most likely. I was really just referring to the shine more than anything.

Yeah, I’m good for Shark Blue, thanks! Any color on a drop top works, well, I wouldn’t order frozen berry, lol. I had white, silver, and aventurine green - ready for something different and bright and colorful… a lighter shade will be fantastic. Or a darker shade. Or the same shade. Lol. The black rims, top, and accents will make it all work. Super excited. I’m locked and it’s ready to be built.
