While I stand by my dislike of the weight, aesthetic, and fixation on golf bag and targa top metrics, good god this car is gonna sound epic with a proper exhaust. (skip to 18:16 if the link doesn't take you there)

GM rep is hit and miss. For example, the LS engine family has some of the biggest mod support there is because it's a pretty incredible family for swapping & building into very effective performance engines. But then there's the LS7 (which is otherwise excellent) with its dropped exhaust valve issues and DOD LS engines with lifter issues. Time will tell on this one, but I will say I was extremely disappointed with GM's approach to the LS7 exhaust valve defect (I owned a C6Z for a number of years and ended up rebuilding its heads on my own dime).

Agree. I loved my C6 Z06 and it was fast as hell, until it let go with 11K miles on it for the heads issue. It was an awesome car though otherwise. I think the 5.5 will fair better since has been in the C8R for a couple/few years now. The LS7 didn't have that race tested advantage.
Where GM is REALLY ahead of most thought is in the chassis & suspension dept. THAT is where the magic of driving a C8 or 6th Gen. Camaro lies (at least the ones that have the MRC suspension). I do think that with this race proven motor and the luxury interior, the C8 Z06 is the one do it all car that hangs with the exotics. Some may not like the styling, but that is subjective and everyone has different tastes. Some say the Cayman looks like a bubble teardrop, so it all depends on the individual
I can't wait until my number comes up on the waiting list I am on. I have a couple years to go.

Didn't they spend a year on that exhaust? I think that was mentioned in the Savage Geese video.

Sounds right IIRC. But GM's hamstrung by trying to meet some optimized cross section of target market (including the New Balance and jorts segment), meeting CARB requirements and federal noise regs, and maybe also euro regs.
