Removing rear calipers on 718 GT4 - brake line bracket
#16
I kept the original Spiegler ones from my 981 and installed those on my 718. Yeah, the revision ones are not as nice.
On top.
On my car, the head of the Torx screw is on the underside of the bracket, i.e. facing the ground. The head is directly in line with the brake line, so there wasn't enough room for me to get a socket in there and loosen it. I purchased a Torx key set, which might be narrow enough to make it work, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I have seen pictures of the bracket on 981 where it looks like the same configuration is used, but the head of the Torx is on top of the bracket, where it is trivial to access from above.
Which way does it face on your car?

Hmmm...mine is definitely access from the bottom and I would guess taking that bolt out will be difficult due to the line being there......will check again later as taking it out is a must for changing pads.

I'm seriously considering Essex to build me a set of custom rears all the way to the caliper.....or just send the missing piece but then I 'm still attached to that little bracket and not enough line to work on the calipers/pad.

Might try to contact Jeff from Essex on here. The original Spiegler lines extended all the way to the caliper on the rear. As previously discussed they shortened them because some people had the lines rub on the inner lip of the wheel. Not sure since I never had that issue but I'd wager those people had those lines with 19" wheels instead of OEM 20".

Therein might be the issue. Mine was built in Osnabrueck.

Yeah...already shoot an e-mail to them. The problem was with 19".....had that one on my 981 with the 11" forgelines, but a little bend on the tab that holds the line to the body and problem solved.

If it's the bolt I'm remembering, then my 981 GT4 had access to it from the top.

Could someone shoot a picture of this torx bolt in place? I had a bear of a time getting my caliper back on after installing the rear Tarett studs. I tried undoing every clip I could find back there. I think I saw the bolt you're talking about but was afraid to remove it for fear of not easily being able to get it back on. But it DID look like the key to much more slack. Does it sit a bit more behind the other wires?

Wonder if someone at PAG is building these incorrectly as you may be able to install them both ways
I will be revisiting this issue later but will require taking out the line and bleeding the system again.

The bolt is right at the support where the rubber line changes to the fixed metal one.....on my car the nut (which is welded) in on the top and the screw is on the bottom...so much for German efficiency!

Is this it with the green arrow? (Disregard the pink circles, I took this image from another post from RLer, @DeerHunter )
That's it..but in my car the bolt is under that bracket.
