Default ‘21 GT4 new purchase - pic and warranty question

Just picked up a very nicely equipped ‘21 GT4!

just wondering experts thoughts on the Porsche extended warranty? Picked it up for $5454 for the 9 year / 60k miles (I average 4K or less a year). This a good deal and worth the $1100 a year for years 5-9? Or should I consider something else or get a refund?

I previously had a 996 for 13 years, without much major work needed post warranty.

anything else I should know about the cayman platform or this car in general??

thanks for any advice and help!

Beautiful car. If you don't plan on keeping it for the duration of the warranty (9 years), just make sure it is transferable.

thanks! Plan on keeping at least a decade (fingers crossed). Fully transferable for $50 via Porsche.

Congratulations on the new GT4! That's a beautiful car.

In response to your query about the extended warranty, FWIW, I tend to stay away from factory extended warranties on new cars. Today's cars are generally reliable enough and the standard factory warranties tend to run long enough for me to decide if I'm going to keep the car long term.

I figure that if I decide to keep the car past the standard warranty period, there are excellent warranties available via private companies. They tend to be less expensive than the factory warranties and they open up your repair options because you don't have to use a factory dealership to take advantage of the warranty.

That's what I did when my CPO 981 Cayman went off its warranty. Porsche offered me an extended warranty right up to the time it went off warranty, but I found a better price with more flexibility elsewhere and it's transferrable if I decide to sell the car.

Enjoy your GT4!

Great looking car!
I'm not a fan of car warranties either, at a minimum I'd suggest comparison shopping what warranty you could get somewhere else vs. the dealer warranty.

Fantastic car. You'll never be able to sell anyway now that you've published a photo of it in the rain

I really like the Arum wheels.
Extended warranties are great for those selling them. They are good profit centers.
If you're happy with the cost and coverage, sleep well knowing your car is covered.

Thanks for the feedback, I was able to get the warranty reduced another $1k, so much better value now for years 5-9.

After 3 attempts to get the car transported from the dealer I had to end up flying out and driving the 450 miles home... apparently the car is too low to safely get up typical auto transport ramps. If anyone else is planning on having a GT4 transported keep that in mind! Apparently the front lip/diffuser comes disassembled from the factory and is installed post delivery for this reason.

Got to know the car a bit on the long drive home, it is an awesome ride.
