Janko Kind review of 4.0 GTS

I enjoy the production quality of this videos and I find his quirky personality entertaining but you certainly can’t take his opinions for anything other than that. He is in love with his choices and his choices alone. He must be doing something right though to have HRE sending him free wheels and then refinishing them for free again

I find Janko's reviews overall entertaining. He overdoes it a bit on his strong opinions, but I must admit that often I agree with him. I do find his outright disparagement of the GTS 4.0 to be completely inappropriate and unnecessary - disrespectful to GTS 4.0 owners, and not generally helpful for the cause of making sure Porsche knows how much we appreciate the 2020+ GTS 4.0's, by showing them with buying lots of them. No doubt it is primarily fueled by him being insulted that his precious Spyder and the GTS 4.0's being compared in the same sentence.
(On a side note, I have never been entertained by or agreed with JayEmm - I have asked YouTube to stop recommending his channel in my feed, and they have obliged, thankfully.)
In my quest to find the best 718 for me, I drove many new and used 718 Cayman and Boxster S's and 2.5L GTS's. I think they are great. The engine sound is "different", but still good and the performance of those models is stellar. I also drove the GT4. I ended up going for a Cayman GTS 4.0. It is amazing and is the Goldilocks 718 for me, that amazing 4.0L Flat 6 in a package better suited for daily street driving. About a month of ownership has really solidified for me that I made the right choice! I love it, no regrets whatsoever. Janko's binary recommendation of either do a GT4 or Spyder or the Turbocharged 4 Cylinder 2018/2019 GTS, or an S is complete BS! The current lineup provides for a great breadth of choices at different price points with different pros and cons.
I will admit that Janko does have a point in his latest video IMO with regards to the stock tire widths on the GTS 4.0. The stock tires do have a hard time putting the power to the ground during spirited driving, as he states. I have HRE Wheels on order and will go to 245 fronts and 285 rears, and along with that bring the edge of the wheels out 6mm. (I will be sticking with the awesome Michelin PS 4S tires, those are great.)
I don't agree with him so far with regards to his criticism of the GTS 4.0 suspension, I find the comfort setting to be pretty amazing for spirited B road driving, including keeping things properly sorted out even when the tires lose traction across bumpy roads, in a straight line or while turning. It also provides for a very sporty yet compliant ride.
One of the things that helped me in my decision process was Chris Harris' very positive comments on the GTS 4.0, that it was "brilliant" and made for much better of a DD than the GT4. I guess I decided to trust Chris over Janko. That context was perfect for me, as I was looking for a daily driver, whereas Janko's context for the Spyder seems to be more so of a weekend sportscar...

I think about 1/4 to 1/3 in. It is a long video, but worth the watch! Very entertaining.
I think his enthusiasm on the Cayman GTS 4.0, despite being only less than 10 second long, might have been what got me started down the path on honing in on the Cayman GTS 4.0 in my search...
Edit: Found the spot in the long video! Go to ~35:50. Very high praise for the GTS 4.0!

Also in the 718 forum, the ratio is 80% Turbo vs 20% NA
NA are still a small % of total 718 sales.
Market has spoken...Turbo is the most chosen engine for 718 nowdays

All PAG 718 sales numbers show declining interest in the 4 bangers since inception.

Three Wheelin'
Sounds like that's the engine for you FreshDriver. Good news is you won't have to get on a list to buy one.

Really ? Lol... Overall ? Porsche worldwide sales ? Year 2021 ?

Same as MB that just announced the four-banger C63 AMG...
I can not understand some people can not accept that this four-banger was a smart decision from Porsche in terms of price/performance ratio, worldwide coverage demand, etc..

Ha-ha! Good one.
That is high praise from Chris!! He made a glowing comment about how great the Cayman GTS 4.0 was on a compilation of his COVID Whiskey files or whatever in 2020, hearing that on YouTube in early 2021 was one of the key things that pushed me over the top to get mine.
