So how do the Europeans close the top remotely and without needing to pull it from the inside with the other hand? How does their hook catch the top without the extra pulling/pushing?

Only a guess, but assume they externally push the top closer to the header while commanding close via FOB.

I do this now, closes much easier. I assume that with time less effort required.
