Do we know the final number

Not sure how accurate it is, but according to vinanalytics.com, there were 763 USA GT4s for 2020.
And there were 262 Canada GT4s for 2020, according to vinanalytics data.

i was curious and looking at the difference to what the new corvette production numbers look like for 20 and 21 a bunch of my friends just don't get why you would pay more for a Porsche built car over a GM. I think they are just throwing up a mental block as they don't fully understand the devil in details

They build more C8s in a week than GT4s arriving in the US in a year...lol.
If you are a "numbers" (MSRP, 0-60, HP, TQ, Skid Pad, etc...) person you will never get it. The Porsche driving experience is very sublime and that doesn't translate well onto a 2-dimensional page.
I had the last generation greatest (well almost, that was the ZR1) -- C7 Z06 with/Z07 and M6 -- I bought it new in 2016 (at 21% off lol). Along with that I had a 2004 C5 Z06 M7 that I had bought new at Kerbeck in Atlantic City. I was one of those "I don't get it" people. Funny thing happened along the way -- I bought a 987.2 Spyder.
I haven't driven the C8, but I've seen em on the road -- not appealing to me. I also don't believe that C8, because its mid-engine lol, will finally deliver that "sublime" driving experience. It puts up some great "numbers" -- as did my old C7 (and C5) -- but I'd suspect its as "numb" as my old ride.
Anyway all my beloved Z06s are gone and I'm not on any C8 waitlist...
