Is the 718 GT4 underpowered

Shoot, I bought the wrong car. New question: Does anyone have any experience getting their deposit back from a dealer? Gonna get a trackhawk!

A car that can take you from zero to arrested in 8 or 9 seconds is not slow or underpowered.
On public roads, I have at least as much fun in my three-generations-old 235 hp BMW sedan as I do my GT4. I can wind it out down an on-ramp and still remain below the reckless driving threshold, instead of straight-to-jail speeds before the merge point (as in 130+ mph...purely hypothetical, of course... ).
And on the track? Best be turning consistent numbers in something that's actually slow before rambling on about power.

And yup, the exact same thing is ultimately what led me to pass on the M2C (fun car, superb power delivery, but just wasn't quite what I was looking for) and start looking at naturally aspirated Porsches instead. Every time I would come off a test drive (Audi RS, M cars, etc) and get back into the ZHP I was immediately re-smitten with the atmospheric power delivery and chatty well-weighted steering. However, ten minutes in a GT car--which delivered all of that and more--and I was sold.

Manual, Cloth/Alcantara 05 sedan here as well. I've owned it for 10 years, much longer than any other car I've ever owned. Glad to hear the GT4 scratches the same itch, that's exactly what I'm hoping for.

I've also had mine a long time: coming up on 12 years now.

i also went from an f87 m2 (owned an f80 m3 before that); i havent broken the car in yet so living under 4k rpm, nor have my winter tires arrived yet (i live in the northeast) and i can still unequivocally say this car is far superior to any of the m vehicles i have mentioned.
the responsiveness is utterly SURREAL. Instantaneous, and even more responsive than i remember my e46 m3 back in the day.
above 3k rpm i dont feel its underpowered and obv peak torque is above 5k from memory.
this is a special special car, everything is effing perfect IMO.
and it looks way more exotic than any m car as long as you don’t get a boring color!

For what it’s worth. I came from an N55 M2 that dyno’d at 385 torque at the wheels. I was worried the GT4 was going to feel slow, but it just doesn’t. The total package of 4.0 plus the lighter weight contributes significantly to feeling fast. There isn’t an RPM where it feel sluggish.
I did some back road mountain runs with an F80 M3 in a lead follow. Whenever I lead, I ran at 6/10 and the M3 told me they were having a hell of a time keeping up. I was having a pleasant Sunday drive and they were all over the place, rear end fighting for every inch of its life.
the power delivery is different. I am confident that once you experience the package, it will be hard to go back to any BMW or really any other car.

My concern is the same as i drive a M2C which is a small beast having 405 hp/406 torque and is a torque monster
I am looking at a GTS and drove a PDK for 10 mins, not enough time to understand the car but loved it nevertheless. My concern is since it has 309 torque will it be slow off the lot and will i miss the torque from my M2C? I am convinced its a very well balanced car being a mid engine and power delivery is very smooth and different from my bimmer , exhuast and suspension is miles better , only concern is whether it will be slow at low rpms?

GT4 PDK with exhaust mods only getting down in the mid 3 seconds 0 to 60mph paired with the chassis, suspension, weight and other attributes this car has is near perfection! If you cant appreciate that, then by all means get a GT Shelby or C8 and be done with it.

Excellent summation! Also, for people to consider(I did anyway) is the build quality of Porsche.

However, some that value numbers and don’t grasp what is being offered won’t get it. It is a very sublime car in multiple ways.
If you are looking for “value” this isn’t it.
I moved up from my Gen 1 Spyder, so it’s perfect.
In Sept I also jettisoned a car with 650 HP/TQ and no don’t miss that either.
