718 Spyder PDK

Which is just a quicker PDK and neutral capability? I’ve driven a GT3 with PDK-S. It’s a PDK. Not trying to be condescending. I’m just saying don’t expect any new insights. It is what it is. If you’ve driven one before, you probably know 99% of what you’re getting.

Anyway, no harm...some of us are very interested in the new PDK so any crumb is edible.

I do have an extremely well optioned (with almost every box ticked except the carbon ceramics and navigation) example of the Spyder coming so I’d be happy to share photos. I’ve owned a few Porsches (I think the count is around 9 or 10 with 5 of those being GT products) and I’m really excited for this one. I think this one is going to be special. Of course I say that with every GT iteration that I have the pleasure of experiencing so yeah...there’s that...hmmm and another reason why I shouldn’t review vehicles. Funny.

Well ok; couldn’t the same be said about a manual...no real changes since synchros. However seem to remember pages of threads wondering and now discussing the Spyder/GT4 manual. I mean it’s just a clutch pedal and gear shift lever right?

The seventh gear in the PDK for the 4.0L engines is shorter than seventh gear in PDK for the turbo four cylinder models. The 4.0L seventh gear has a 0.72 ratio instead of 0.62. Gears 1-6 are the same ratios I believe, and my understanding is that the final drive is also the same. I believe this is to improve highway cruising performance/efficiency. The shorter seventh would reduce the torque required for highway cruising, allowing the car to stay in 3-cylinder mode, improving fuel economy.

I actually appreciate your question and starting the thread. We all know how pdk functions but that was not the question. The question was with the 981/718 tall gearing, how would the pdk shifting feels in real life experience, not to mention it got 7th gear as well. So great legit question for starting a thread.

Three Wheelin'
2021 cars are being held up by EPA and CARB. They seem to pick on Porsche too after dieselgate. Mine was due November 6th, and now it says December 4th like everyone else's seems to be.

Is there any info on the gear ratios of the 6 speed vs. the 7 speed PDK? I didn't see anything listed on Porsche's website. .

Again, very surprising that not only have we not seen any actual gear ratios from Porsche directly, but there are PDK cars in US Ports already and there have been 0 reviews of a PDK GT4 or Spyder.

Maybe they are holding off PDK experiences until they move more of the Manny GT4s sitting on lots now?
