I do like the OPF pipes with the bracketry though for sure. You can see from the rear go pro shots that the whole system gets torqued under load (you see the stress and release at the upshift points) and breaking up the stress into smaller stretches can’t be a bad approach.
Do those brackets connect to anything in the US cars? or are they for OPF accessories on EU ones?

If you look from the rear, there's no other black plastic parts, so I think it would elevate the whole perception of the car from that angle. The front lip would be more or less impossible to make CF as it would just be scraped.

The black plastic parts are my only disappointment in terms of looks and quality with the car. It looks and feels cheap.

I have their upgraded exhaust system on my S6. Very pleased with the sound, and she's a meaty gal so any weight relief is a bonus...

I actually feel the grade of the plastic is quite acceptable. It doesn't appear to be a cheap plastic to my eyes or to the touch. Of course real CF everywhere would be nice, and it is likely only a matter of time before someone comes out with a CF front lip piece. However, it should be a real CF part, and not just CF laid over the stock piece. That would actually add weight !!

I appreciate the plastics. Inexpensive to replace

I love Akra stuff. Both the corporate and Tag sites linked above, however, state that Akra GT4/Spyder exhausts are for off-road use only. I’m not sure whether this means that they have not yet been tested for compliance in the many markets they sell in, or whether they know already that they will not comply. Unfortunately, I live in California, which means that compliance is absolutely necessary. Per my limited understanding of exhaust technology, a cat-back system ought not affect emissions. By stating that the exhaust is for off-road use are they implying that it may not meet sound standards in some markets?

it won’t pass the visual CARB inspection in California but it shouldn’t do anything on the emissions readings since the cats are on the headers. But because it won’t pass the visual inspection they must put a disclaimer that it’s for off road use.

I’ve had aftermarket exhausts in CA for a long time and not once I had an inspector complain about a visual issue, as long as the emissions readings are good.

This doesn't quite make sense. If the slip-on exhaust can fit with the OEM pipes, then how can the Akra pipes not have an OEM spec connection. Unless, you have to buy everything??

We don't understand how that could be either. We reckon that the Akra link pipes will in fact pair with the OEM muffler just fine. We have the 1st unit making it's way to the U.S. on order so when it arrives we'll see what's what and confirm for everyone.

All models with the 4.0 NA engine have the same exhaust components. Boxster/Cayman GTS 4.0, and Spyder/GT4.
Spyder/GT4 are mechanically identical, just like the 2 GTS 4.0 cars.
