Track Precision App

Mine is a BlackVue 2 channel 750x model. It has an app that pairs with a phone but I pull the SD card out for video editing.
It’s difficult to give mine a strong recommendation as the video it records stutters quite a bit. Also the rear camera doesn’t sync seamlessly with the front. I’m sure there are other dashcam models that do a better job but overall mine works well. PCM data is all done post production in racerender.

Ah ok. I was thinking the GoPro worked with phone or the PCM to overlay the video.

2 ‘15’ GT3s, 1 ‘16’ GT4, 2 ‘18’ GT3s and a ‘22’ GT4. It hasn’t reliably worked on any of them.

I've been running Harry's lap timer as a backup lately. Track Precision data is great but at least Harry's doesn't crash.

I'd love it if Harrys worked on apple carplay, then it could be on the cars screen and not a mounted iphone.

Well, I had at least some success with TPA this weekend, but it had trouble connecting due to the wifi in the paddock first, rather than the PCM until I got out of range on track. Sometimes it would say get ready and start recording as I passed the line, other times it just kept waiting for me to pass the start/finish line every lap and never recorded. I also struggled with getting the video to record in landscape orientation in some sessions. It also did crash midway through a session and just froze the PCM screen.
This may not be news, but I was able to see MPH in the exported video. When the rotating wheel with the arrow icon flashes, does that show wheel spin or traction control kicking in?

I am having a problem finding tracks I frequent in Texas. The only Texas track the app shows is COTA. 🤯 In fact the app only shows a handful of tracks worldwide. I tried delete and re install and that did not work. I’ve been looking at all the settings and everything appears correct, but the track database is just very limited. Any word on this?
Thanks!

Heck, you can drive around the block to create a track, try it and you will ready when you need to add the local circuit.

If your local track is not in the app then simply create your own as you drive... once you have completed the first lap and save (finish) the session it will be there in recordings, you can edit the name to something meaningful.

Doing it manually is very easy. You can pre define the start/finish line using google maps and after you have driven a complete lap it will include the overlay.
This is assuming the app doesn't crash every second lap, and the data export works and doesn't hard crash. And definitely don't expect your data to carry over from one version to another without breaking your entire database.
I do a fresh install of the app every time I go to the track, and run Harry's Lap timer on a second phone because I know I can trust it when PTP fails.

It's just trash, honestly... they had a stable version just before the ground up rewrite, fully featured and most importantly STABLE and would connect reliably with a specific connection routine..... and since the new version with the new UI... it's been a dumpster fire.

+1. The app literally crashes every time for me now, or can’t figure out which track I’m at (thinks I’m at Laguna Seca when I’m at Sonoma). And to think, the CEO of Porsche replaced the CEO of VW because of the latter’s inability to deliver on software (that was their technical reason for his dismissal). God help us.
