Very funny all of the comments such as "why use launch control" or "why turn traction off".... I simply did it because I wanted to have some fun. And if you don't find LC fun or you don't like the occasional slip of the tires or a good chirp on the 1-2 shift, then I think you might be driving the wrong car.

Sure you can make the argument that it puts unnecessary wear and strain on drive train components, we all know this is true. But I don't think there is a whole lot of harm in trying it once, after all, Porsche writes about the feature in the manual!

I was curious to see if it would light up the rear tires or if the car would grip despite not having TC to modulate power. Both scenarios I would consider fun!

If you have a friend with a turbo, try a LC start in that. Two different worlds with the front wheels pulling and the rears pushing in the turbo drivetrain. Just stupid fast. The first time just blows people away. Full launch to 100 mph and then full brakes to 0 and you will be a bit dizzy and likely giddy as well.

I didn't even try launch control in my first 911 Turbo S (a 2017) until I had 5,000 miles on it, when I thought I felt really comfortable with all that power. When I did finally try LC, it was as you said. When I came to a stop, I opened my mouth to say something like "holy sh*t", but all that came out was a gutteral sound -- my mouth couldn't form the words!

Neighbor has a Turbo S tuned to 700 BHP. Early one Saturday morning we put launch control to use followed by max deceleration twice. Morning coffee didn’t taste so good on its second pass.

Tried Launch Control today at my first Autocross. It was a thrill, and I think it helped shave some time as well (although it was a very short run to the first sharp turn, and my times are terrible).
