I wouldn’t have used a sardonic tone here. If I want to go around town or want the car to be quiet, I’ll have PSE button off. However, when I turn PSE on, I’d expect the car to get louder starting from 2k rpm. Right now up to 4k rpm, PSE on or off are the same and only around 5k you hear a noticeable difference between on or off.

Rut roh, Spyder on the Dragon OP loves the sound of his car too. Quick, someone tell him he’s wrong...

John - I would say the sound is slightly better on the stock Spyder vs the 997 Fister cans. That's obviously under load, but while I loved the RSR/Fister gundo cans on my 993's, I was never a huge fan of the sound on my 997's. The 718 GT4/Spyder is going to be awesome once a few options for the pipes are released.

All the 4 pics are camera phones, and I only took one of them. It’s like Miami in that grayscale can make it look a bit different (Speed or Summer). I’d say the 3rd and 4th are most faithful to the ‘in person’ experience.

Thanks for posting. The photo in the driveway and the one right before it look really good. The racing yellow is deceptive with cameras that are not SLR's or white balance is slightly off so the others look a little pale. The color looks good on that GT4. Just makes my job much harder now. HaHa.

If you already have a GR car, I would branch out. I love Guards, but can’t have two at the same time.

I’ve posted why I like my 718 Spyder even more than my 981 Spyder but the exhaust note below 5k RPMs sucks. And having closed valves with almost no exhaust sound up until 4000 RPMs is disconcerting particularly if you are used to correlating your exhaust note to approximate RPMs

I’ve driven flat 6 Porsches my whole life and drove my 981 Spyder to my dealer and left with my 718 Spyder so the exhaust note of the previous car was fresh in my mind. The 718 Spyder sounds nothing like the typical Porsche flat 6 until you are way up in the RPMs. Maybe some of the folks praising the exhaust note never owned NA flat 6 Porsches. Maybe they did. Sound is subjective but you have to actually drive the car to have a valid opinion.
That is exactly how I felt. My 981 had a glorious sound long before you are in license suspension zone.
the 718 is vey muffled that I actually listened to music rather than the exhaust note . Part of the joy of driving the Spyder is the pleasing sound that it plays, the 718 makes you wait for 5000 rpm for enjoyment. It desperately needs the valves open from the start.

The sound is disappointing to me after about 300km. Of course this is driving below 4K.

Valve opens at 3700-3800 which starts to sound better. Otherwise it's super quiet. Top up or down.

I loved the engine sounds of my 981 GT4 in the cabin, this doesn't have the same. Again more tame.

Will see after break in.
