It could have, since Porsche always maintains a couple of suppliers for tires, it would be the luck of the draw, Pirelli or Michelin HP tires could be used.

Just curious for those that have received their Spyders while ordering the high performance tire option, what tires did you get now that the sample size should be larger?
It seems that one person above overseas confirm PS4S. Curious if Pirelli supplied any tires or if it's all PS4S? Also curious if maybe anyone received Pilot Super Sports as the PSS seem to be very similar to the PS4S. Personally, I don't know exactly what the difference is between the PSS and PS4S but I think the PS4S is one level higher than the PSS. If someone knows for sure, please chime in and explain.

My experience includes having gone through sets of Super Sports, Sport Cup 2s, and P4S tires on a 2011 Boxster which was used as a daily driver and weekend autocrosser. The P4S is definitely superior to the Super Sport in that it is better in the rain, quicker though the cones, and lasts longer. The Sport Cup 2s actually lasted longer on the rear than the Super Sports. I replaced the Sport Cup 2s after having them break loose on a loop ramp entering the freeway on a cool morning. At that point they were still not to the wear bars even though they had about 17k miles on them. The P4S lasted much longer in the rear than either the Super Sports or Sport Cup 2s. My 718 Spyder has the Sport Cup 2s but I still have not really had the opportunity to push them. Since I am for all intents and purposes I am now retired it only gets driven on nice days. I did note 1.12 g one day on a freeway cloverleaf entering the freeway.

Tires did great driving home from Atlanta in a monsoon.

Yes, I was a Cup 2 fan and a bit concerned when I got the Dunlops, but they really stick. Take longer to get to temp than the Cups but once warm they work well. Very happy with them now.
