If it had been Speed instead of Racing, I think a lot more people would have gone yellow. Or better yet, if Signal or Bahama were offered as a special color instead of PTS.

Meh...pretty much in the eye of the beholder I'd say. Personally prefer the "cleaner" brighter RY -- too much orange? or something in SY.
But hey, SY is currently an authorized custom color for $12,800.

I wasn’t stating my preference. I was merely commenting on the difference in hue and the fact that Speed is a more popular color among the Porsche community than Racing. Been discussed many times on RL and Speed is clearly more popular. Probably why it’s a $13k option.

Definitely all color choices are a very personal preference, and those of us that like yellow of any variant are the "oddballs". For my personal preference I agree with you 100%. I FAR prefer the brighter look of Racing Yellow to the more orange, darker Speed Yellow. Thank goodness for choices!

Possible it’s more “popular” because it’s been around for 3 decades all the way back to air cooled cars? RY only about 8 years...
Anyway, all yellows welcome and are great. I had a Millennium Yellow Z06 for a dozen years and loved it...very close to SY.
Good questions! Like many spent quite a bit on the configurator and several in person sit downs at the local dealership as not everything on the website is accurate or clear.
Our goal was to build something that was visually striking and said, let’s go have fun. Also wanted to max out the interior leather/stitching to create a specific textual sensation.
Gauge faces, love them! IMO, just need sufficient contrast to see needle position sweeping toward 8000. Plenty of contrast for that, at night the faces are dark and no hint of yellow so look like any other gauge face. The SC does stay a glowing yellow...think that is cool also.
Washed my wheels yesterday; ughhh perhaps some black caliper PCCB would have been better; but of course that is a steep bill that for me is driven by cleanliness.
I knew going in there’d be no comfort access or seat memory but got the 18 ways anyway. Just to be aware of; it’s ok and wouldn’t change. Wanted the deviated backs and had buckets last time.
Here is something that does bother me...the visors! They are cheap, cheap, cheap. The decals are like right in my face. I debated the Alcantara ones, but decided no. Think it’s a $500 or so option, be advised on suncoast they’re like 1300 but you can get them wo stickers. Of course the upgraded alcantara ones would have decals also and unsure they can be removed as cleanly as the plastic standard visors. Probably will just remove the decals and live with the plastic ones. Local shop can redo with leather or alcantara with matched deviated for around $700.
Skipped NAV for first time in last half dozen new car purchases. Don’t miss it and love Carplay. Had it in my last car and never used it...it’s great happy I dumped NAV. You do lose some track functionality wo NAV.
Happy with Bose. There is no way the BM system makes sense...noise levels in the cockpit negate this upgrade. This was before GPF delete pipe lol..
Bottomline, no regrets! Can’t tell you how special the interior feels for me.
Feel free to shout back or request pics. Happy to help.
Thanks TXshaggy. You certainly achieved your goal of building a car that is visually striking, both inside and out. In a world full of dull gray and black SUVs, your Spyder is a shining light. Strange that Porsche chose white gauge needles for the Spyder, versus red for the Boxster and GT4 that I believe provide more contrast for the yellow faces. I'm glad the yellow faces are still easy to read.
I really liked the yellow S2000 I had few years ago and am looking forward to getting a yellow Spyder. Dealer expects to get an allocation in the next week or two, so I still have a little time to decide how much yellow I want in the interior.
I'd love to see a night photo of the yellow sport chrono clock.
OK, here are some photos taken at 5PM in the garage. It’s still pretty light out and in general think the camera is pushing the exposure...I don’t perceive the SC to be as bright as depicted.
The lighting is adjustable. First couple at 100% and last at 30%.
Personally like the warm yellow face at night...like a little campfire.
This hits the nail on the head. I think of Porsche yellows in order from lemon to orange as: Fayence - Racing - Speed - Signal - Bahama, with Speed being the median deep yellow. Bahama is awesome, but it's really an orange more than it is a yellow. Signal is epic.
