The Official White and Carrara White Metallic Color Thread
#391
- too hard to tell the difference
- spent the money on other options
- bright white feels sportier to me
- metalic white feels more appropriate for luxury cars or suvs
- metalic white is harder to color match if ever needed
- my bright white kind of looks CWM when dirty in the shade
I recently parked next to my exact same car in CWM about a week ago and I honestly couldn’t tell that easily, so it totally reinforced my decision to not “waste” the money.
Anyway, you really can’t go wrong with either. Just pick one and move on. There are better things to stress about in life. Haha

I also struggled with the decision and considered the same factors as Nomoracin but came to different conclusion for my 718 Spyder as follows (my take in red):
- too hard to tell the difference (I agree it's hard to tell difference, can only tell if in the right light)
- spent the money on other options (I assumed I'd die with more $ left in bank than the option cost, so I went with CWM)
- bright white feels sportier to me (CWM appears slightly deeper, and I emphasize slightly - can only tell difference side by side in direct sunlight)
- metalic white feels more appropriate for luxury cars or suvs (I see my Spyder as a luxury car, and thought CWM might be a little more unique/special than white)
- metalic white is harder to color match if ever needed (never thought of that, hopefully it never matters)
- my bright white kind of looks CWM when dirty in the shade (I think CWM probably hides dirt better when not perfectly clean)
The difference is so small, it is not worth agonizing over, really. This is a good 1st world struggle to have.

I struggled with the 2 colors myself, but ended up with the free white. My reasons were…
- too hard to tell the difference
- spent the money on other options
- bright white feels sportier to me
- metalic white feels more appropriate for luxury cars or suvs
- metalic white is harder to color match if ever needed
- my bright white kind of looks CWM when dirty in the shade

I have a Grand Prix White 964 and a CWM GT4. When separate they both appear “white”. When together my 964 has a slight yellow hue and the CWM looks much crisper with a deeper hue. In the sun there’s no comparison. CWM hands down is my favorite color. Different Porsche white with the 964 vs 718 white but you get the idea. It’s a personal choice. No wrong answer. The price difference is irrelevant and shouldn’t be a factor on a $100K+ car

If i do get an allocation i decided to go with CWM as i feel it looks more classy although the difference is subtle. Still i do need to see both colors side by side

As I narrow my reorder choices (I had a car on the FA transport), CWM is among the finalists. If CWM wins, my plan is to do MATTE XPEL on the whole thing. #EyeCandy.
