The Official Black Color Thread

Thanks - Black wasn't my first color choice, but got a great deal and was in my top 3 or 4 color options. Of course the car is covered with light scratches and swirls - but will get paint correction done - and then will have it protected going forward with PPF. Car looks so menacing in black, i'm really glad i went with it. And once paint is protected - will be starting the countdown for a track event in the spring!

When I ordered my 2014 981 Cayman S I was leaning toward white or silver. At the last minute before locking my configuration my wife told me white and silver were boring colors and I should get black or red. Since I do like black, and to reinforce her reluctant acceptance of the purchase, I ordered black. Black can be beautiful, but never again. It looked great for 10 minutes after washing, then you could already see dust. Any slight puddle splash or a few stray rain drops show up as water spots. Even with no rain and dry roads I'd get at most 2 or 3 drives out of it before it just looked like it needed a wash again. Fast forward to today, I sold the black 981S 2 months ago and have a 2021 Carrera White Spyder coming in January. Yes, still married to the same wonderful woman, although we have our moments.

1. Don’t touch paint between washes
2. Don’t look too close
3. Ceramic coating is a Must (I use Ceramic Pro)
4. Light polish every two years
5. Actually some dirt gives it personality
6. If you track it, ppf it
