Not directed at you but, IMHO anybody that does less then what is suggested by Porsche for break-in is a …. I won't say it.

The previous NA flat-6 was in break-in in for the first 2000 miles (3000km), during this time the following is prescribed by Porsche:
- longer trips
- avoid frequent cold starts
- avoid full throttle starts
- maximum engine speed of 4200 RPM
- warm engine up, no high RPM in gear or neutral
- never lug the engine ever, but especially during break-in
- do not participate in racing events, driving schools etc. during the break-in period

I pickedup the car from Leipzig on month ago, so i was adivced:
*Maximum 4500 rpm
*Don't drive on constant RPM for a long period. So RPM must variate all the time.
*No short trips
*No red lines
So basically very similar instructions as i got with my 992 Carrera 4S
I drove the car back From Leipzig to my home and done 3200 km in 3 days. Just was looking quite funny on the highways i think, i always go from 120 to 160, than slowly go down to 120 and sometimes just change a gears from 6-5-6...

When I get my Spyder I intend to take it a little easy for the first 200-300 miles with lots of engine braking (3-4K RPM) and just varying the revs all round with light to medium throttle. After that I'm going to let it go to red line without a care in the world.

This is especially funny because Porsche takes brand new car, plonks them into their driving schools where they do nothing else than revving their nuts off and then after 1 or 2 seasons they are sold CPO. I bought my 981 GTS like that, and the engine ran sublime till I wanted a bigger engine and swapped it with 20K miles on it and absolutely zero oil consumption.

I also was thinking same, as engines are tested on full revs and etc... But they explained it's my own responsibility about break-in, they just recommend it (as warranty stay valid for engine without any break-in).
I even saw somewhere discussion about that, so it looks like properly breaked in engines had little better performance against not breaked in engines. If i remember well 0-100 km times was compared.

Past 1200 km so maybe it's time to RTFM!
Manual p12 (NL):
4000rpm max for 3000 km
Avoid to many cold starts and short rides.
Lower rpm when engine is still cold
No races etc...
To be honest: I did about 5000 rpm max the first 1000 km (but not that many times), now approaching 6000 rpm (sometimes). Still 2000 rpm to go to 8000 so I don't see why 6k would be a problem.
I always let any engine warm up before revving it more. I have a 2006 BMW which I share with my father, we have it from new and it has now 258.000 km without breaking a sweat.

PAG errs on the safe side...as mentioned, the cars at the Alabama Racing Experience school are almost brand new and you get to redline them every lap! I was there for the Masters/RS and the GT3RS I was using had 500 miles!!!!!
I would take it by the book the first 500 miles under traffic conditions to vary the revs and minimize constant higher rpms, also expose the engine to higher temps and row the gears a bit more...this helps in any settling left of the parts to be done as soon as possible.
Avoid highway cruising....I know it's the easiest way to pile up the miles but the constant higher rpms doesn't help the break in of the parts.
IMHO, Doing a occasional full rpm / wide open throttle sprint will not hurt the car and contrary to what Porsche recommends I change the engine oil after the first 2000-3000 miles to get rid of any residue/particulate that may have accumulated during the break-in period.
