Thanks for the feedback. I moved to the area this year and am looking to upgrade my 2017 718 S in the Spring so will likely contact Russ. Is your deposit for the earliest possible allocation or are you able to time it somewhat? For example, I'm only interested in something after March, but pretty flexible beyond that, would it make sense to put a deposit down now?

I told Russ I want the delivery to be late Spring or late July for my birthday. He said that is not a problem as he can trade slot with others and he just want me to get on the list for 2021 allocation. According to Russ there is no more allocation from Northtown Porsche for this year and I will be the first for 2021. I am in no rush as I have 997.2 C4S and Macan Turbo PP to drive.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like something for next summer should be feasible in that case.

Yes. Just get on the list. $1000 deposit and MSRP without bullish*t. BTW I test drove the Boxster GTS on the lot yesterday and that thing sound and feel amazing.

No it wasn't and that was why I was pleasantly surprised by it. https://www.porschebuffalo.com/new-W...CB2A84KS228811

it's unfortunate you had to post this! We must give more business to transparent sales people and I will always do it. It doesn't mean dealers HAVE to give you an allocation at MSRP to get an endorsement, just being honest goes a long way in earning my trust. I hope free market wil do it's thing and clean the pond eventually

Silly I didn't think about this as a potential option. The SA I usually work with at a dealer that crosses over the VAG brands told me they weren't running anything list wise yet when I was mentioned preferring something down the line versus a current allocation. So I had resolved to wait until the next set of allocations start being distributed.

That being said, anyone know of dealer in / near SoCal for this exact same scenario before I just start calling around? A PDK GT4 is just the thing to bring me back into the brand -- still have my 1st year 986. Thanks all, appreciate it.

Forgive the question as I don't spend a ton of time in this area of Rennlist but I have a friend who wants a Spyder at MSRP (in Eastern Pennsylvania, preferably). I recall hearing that GT4 was not going to be a limited production run, but not sure if that also applied to the Spyder as well. He's willing to wait until next year for a '21.

Are allocations available at MSRP fairly regularly right now? He might consider someone else's build but would prefer his own spec.

Thanks.

I would have thought Rennlist would support such efforts.

It sounds like MSRP is pretty doable at this point. Spyders will likely follow the same factors as the GT4 on production capabilities.

Current allocations are for 2021 models with delivery supposedly as early as November for builds already put in.

I read here that the 2021 models will have a sales hold until the first week of December...

Yep, read that too. The way the US is going with Covid, I wouldn't be surprised if there are additional delays.
