Default Storage bin question

My first Porsche order goes solid this weekend so I have been burning through all of the YouTube 718 videos and have not been able to find out how large these compartments are:

How deep are they?

Third question is what do 718 owners use them for as them seem awkward to get to?

They're about ~9" long by ~4" wide, and about ~7" deep. But they're sort of odd shaped since it's clearly just a random void in the engine bay area. I'm not sure they're necessarily all that useful for actual storage, unless you have something you want to always have in the car with you just in case, but that you don't want roaming free around in the frunk or trunk. I've kept the luggage net in there when not in use. Maybe a small roadside or tool kit, some spare sunblock or hand sanitizer, or some spare oil if you're a track junky.

Couple of microfiber towels and a small bottle of quick detailer in mine...takes care of the bird poop on the fly.

It's ironic how some will pay thousands to reduce weight (and in most cases just a few pounds at that), yet others look for hard-to-reach storage compartments to add it!

True, but the Cayman is quite heavy compared to an Elise.

Well I don't worry about those extra tenths of a second at the stop light Grand Prix too much.

Besides the beauty of it is that when I get to the track I can open the compartment back up, take said items out and put the stored air back in the compartment. That sliding lid that Porsche put on the compartment is really nice that way.

Very sorry! Didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just making an observation. Two sides of the same coin.

Using the numbers from SnoBdrAk assuming that these are that size the whole way (worst case situation) filling both with lead it will be about 200 lbs. While I get the weight at the track and the resultant rise in the CG of the car from putting lead that high for me it would not matter as you would all be passing me anyways.

Thanks to SnoBdrAk a first aid kit trauma and boo-boo) that we have carry in our other vehicles should fit nicely.

Off to buy lead shot.....

They are actually pretty deep and can fit a decent amount of stuff inside. But they are in an awkward spot and somewhat difficult to reach. I would not suggest putting anything in there that you need to access regularly.

If you want lighter you could always fit in a helium balloon.
