Has anyone confirmed whether there is switched power in the upper light console? I would rather not have to run a line to the fuse box.

The wire I tapped into in the upper console is always hot, but my radar detector powers off after a few minutes when it detects that the car is off (ie, 12v rather than 14v, or maybe no motion, not sure how, but it knows to power off) so that works for me. Uniden R7.

Did you review the posts at the beginning of the thread. Pictures show the two typical configurations.

I don’t have switched so I just turn off the RD.

You have auto dimming mirrors?

No I do not. It looks like I need to run it back to the fuse box
