Which one has more lag?

Would figure shorter gearing alone could be a big win for a DD.

Feels like my S is being strangled.

Well, this degenerated quickly. Not sure that 'lag' is a real issue in my experience. The car will snap your neck if you don't have your head against the backrest when you floor it from a standing start - and that's without Sport Chrono/launch control. I have an S (PDK), have not driven the base. For not that much more money, by Porsche standards, you get 25% more displacement, 17% more HP, the bigger and better 991 brakes, bigger wheels and tires, and the nicer exhaust. While the base is a wonderful car, I didn't consider it based on this performance and value proposition. The 2.5 GTS wasn't out when I bought mine, or I would have considered that. Can't go wrong either way.

The VTG turbos and lower boost coupled with more displacement give the 2.5L engine much less turbo lag, particularly at low RPM.

Ive owned both. The base is a great car, but if you can afford the S, its worth it if you like harder acceleration. A bit difference in lag, a big difference in low in torque/thrust. Resale is much better as well.

I just bought a base model with the right options (for me) : PDK, Sport Chrono, Sport Exhaust, 20 inch wheels, Sport seats (18 ways).

Really nice Spec! I bet the Sport Chrono option wakes the 2.0 up...

Hard to advise with such little information. If money is no issue , than no question the S.

I have never bought too much car but have bought too little car too often .

I test drove the 718 base, 718 S and the 981 S. No question the 718 S a YUGE improvement on the base model, which I felt was too hi revving to get any real power out of and lacked the punch of the S. Which is why I bought the S. better engine, faster, etc., etc., etc. 981 S was pretty awesome too, but had to rev it to get the power and speed. Not so with the 718 S.

Sounds very close to the "T" model.
