New 2019 Cayman GTS
Hi.
Long time lurker, new member, and first post here.
Excited to have secured my first Porsche after a thorough search for what feels like years. Drove a couple 911's over the years, and in 2016, I did a session at PEC ATL in the then new GT4. Was so blown away by the car I tried quickly after to order one. Little did I know how hard it would be to get that car, and a disappointed me didn't/couldn't buy. In 2017 I did a session at PEC LA in the GT3. Another stark reminder that I needed a Porsche in my life. A GT3 was outside my budget, but I just wanted to experience a car like that in real anger. That memory will likely stay with me forever.
Last year I bought a lovely ND Miata Club, and really felt that it would satisfy my craving for a toy car. The ND really is an excellent car, and I enjoyed 5k miles in it this year top down only. The acquired tan on my head can attest.
A friend works at a local Porsche dealer, and had been keeping me updated on their inventory almost weekly. A couple of months ago a 2018 GTS PDK came in, and I quickly shot over and drove it. it was priced well, but was well used and wasn't the spec I was looking for. At the same time, I drove a barely used (1000~kms) 718 Spyder and immediately plunked down a deposit for one of those.
It was an interesting day, driving the 2.5L turbo and the flat6 right after. Both felt super impressive, and it has to be said that the Spyder makes a fun sound in high revs. The SA really had me wind it out! It did also cement for me that I would be perfectly happy with the flat4 turbo as it's low end torque was outstanding.
The search continued across country until recently, when I discovered a NOS 2019 GTS 6MT in stock at a dealer about 8hrs away from me. The spec was right, and it was priced to move with new 2021's 4.0's arriving. I then cancelled my deposit on the Spyder, and made a quick deal on my new Cayman GTS! I flew to see the car and close the deal recently, and it will be shipped to me this week.
Build Highlights:
19 Cayman GTS
Jet Black Metallic
6MT
PASM
PDLS
GTS Interior Package Carmine Red
LWBS
Carbon Interior Trim
Bose
Apple Carplay
Thanks for having me,
R

Congratulations. Beautiful car. I recently picked up a 2017 718 Cayman (base), and have an ND Miata as well...you have excellent taste.... I recently added a tune to the Miata, very happy with it. Enjoy....

Congrats! Looks like an excellent spec. With an APR tune, the 4.0 will be even more of an afterthought. The ND Miata is such a fun car. An Edelbrock blower makes it a good bit quicker!

Thanks for your comments. I wish I could keep both, but alas, my wife needs a garage space for her Rav4. Also, I'm not sure I'd have time to drive both!
