NEW SPYDER V. NEW SPEEDSTER
It's a great time for the playing with the Porsche configurator. You can build some incredible dream cars right now. The Spyder and the Speedster are two offerings whose price differential seems inexplicable at best. Is anyone considering these two cars? Why one over the other? Considerations? Thanks for reading. Obviously should read New Spyder New Speedster.

I'm buying a new Spyder. Told my dealer I had no interest in the Speedster. Not a collector and it's overpriced.

Three Wheelin'
Two dealers told me they're not even listening to Speedster offers that are less than $100,000 over sticker. If they play that nonsense with the Spyders I'll permanently shift into buying used models.

Yep, $100K ADM seems to be typical. Doesn't matter to me since I would never pay over MSRP for any car. I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers ask $10K over MSRP for a Spyder.

I can certainly understand why someone would choose a Spyder over the Speedster based on the prices. But does anyone think that the Spyder is better (or close to being as good), independent of price? Sure it is slightly smaller and slightly lighter (but only 24 pounds, according to the Porsche website).
But everything else is strongly in favor of the Speedster:
90 hp more
37 ft-lbs more
9,000 rpm redline
Individual Throttle Bodies for incredible throttle response
Better gearing
Multilink rear suspension
LWB's and PCCB's included
But on the surface, it doesn't look worth almost 3x as much as Spyder. But maybe cost of ownership may not be that different (if value retention is better).

Paying a $100k ADM for a speedster is hysterical but someone will do it...fools and their money...

I was offred a Speedster at MSRP and said Yes but changed my decision when I saw the MSRP...
Call me crazy, I have no regrets at all.
I dont think Speedster's owners will be able to fully enjoy this car on the streets and for the track, a convertible 911... ... ...
I will buy a Spyder
I think it is the best “convertible“ car on Porsche's lineup, allowing to have fun on streets, where I want use it.

Spyder - simply stunning
Handling and balance
Plenty of power for its brief (420HP)
Light and nimble
You might argue the Spyder is way more in line and in tune with the original speedster too
I just see the speedster as a marketing ploy and a GT3 chop top.
I'd go for metallic silver Spyder with satin platinum wheels
or
black on black with guards red dials
