Gearing is not improved. Exactly same gearbox as 981. Speed in each gear is actually higher now due to 200 rpm higher redline.

That shows that changing the final drive is not that beneficial. But making a new stack of ratios (closer) can be a big benefit (revs drop less when you upshift). I always prefer new individual ratios over changing final drive...
