What are you on about? That’s what he said, PDK is faster than manual ...

Il rephrase. Most of the people buying these cars aren’t buying them for 0-60.

Agreed. But with a better power to weight, the GT4 Spyder should be faster than the 992. I understand Porsche wants the 911 to be faster, but 0.7s is a big difference.
So it’s due to gearing and PDK?

Yup . And like u mentioned 911 they don’t wanna step too close to gt3 times also . Let’s see what in gear acceleration times are once people review them.

Aftermarket manual with shorter ratios. Has anyone done this?

Don’t forget that 911’s launch much better with the rear engine ...

there is also the small matter of the WALL OF TURBO TORQUE that the 992 produces.

Or that the turbo 718 Caman GTS in PDK format is faster 0-60 than the GT4. PDK and turbo torque win the 0-60 but the linear natural aspirated manual on the GT4 wins the battle when you hit the curves.

Default Correct 0-60 times for the GTS vs Spyder

I know you referenced the Cayman but the idea is the same of the boxter, in that by that logic, the Boxter GTS should be faster than the Spyder, and it's not.

For manual tranny: Boxter GTS 0-60 mph is 4.4 sec and the Spyder is 4.2 sec
In PDK, the Boxter GTS 0-60 is 4.1 w/o sport chrono and 3.9 sec with sport chrono.

That latter number is consistent with every PDK + SC I've seen c/o with manual gearbox: namely, a savings of 0.5 seconds.

So, when comparing apples to apples, and despite the turbo and and torque, the Spyder is still faster (as it should be) than the GTS

Preuninger is unapologetic about that, explaining that the gear ratios have remained the same to allow Porsche to homologate the car for global emissions regulations. Changing them for individual markets would add significantly to the cost of the car.”

Right now now you can only order a manual Spyder but you can order a PDK Boxster GTS.

I realize that. I'm just saying that when comparing a 6MT GTS to the 6MT Spyder, the Spyder is faster by 0.2 seconds. I don't think the PDK is a fair comparison.

As an aside, I think the 718 GTS turbo 4 is better paired with a PDK gearbox (which I've driven on the track) than the manual, while the NA 4liter Spyder engine is made for a 6MT
