Does the 718 GTS interest you?
Particularly for those of you who aren’t huge fans of the 718, are you excited or interested by the GTS?
I drove a 718 Boxster S and didn’t love it. I really want the GTS to be awesome. I want it to be sharper, a little louder, a little more serious about its mission, a little edgier.
But I have this feeling I’ll be disappointed by it.

I have not driven the 718 yet, and as good as it is (no one doubts that), the idea of spending $100K or thereabouts for a turbocharged four cylinder Porsche is just something I can't see myself doing.

This poll is so lopsided already lol
My gripes with the 718 are the laggy throttle response and power plateau above 5K. Totally ruins the sensation of acceleration. It’s not even about the 4 pot. The brake feel is also pretty mushy.
I owned two Lotus Elises and I assure anyone that it was incredibly thrilling.

Interesting - Motor Trend named the Cayman S as #2 in it's 2017 Best Driver's Car competition. It just bested the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the winner was (ta - ta) the Ferrari 488 GTB. Just sayin'...

Yeah. I love their performance car of the year test. It’s not surprising. I don’t think anyone believeis the 718 isn’t an excellent sports car, still probably best in its class.

The GTS drives great- the increased focus (especially on the exhaust) is obvious right away. The visual changes are subtle but the car is definitely more aggressive w/ suspension tuning and the engine feeling more torquey. The flat six and the turbo 4 are definitely different but the torque increase is pretty massive.

And as far as laggy throttle response and mushy brakes, fortunately the 718's I have driven were not equipped with those features.

Actually, that was the point of this poll. I wouldn’t create a poll asking if people were excited about the new GT2. The answer is obvious. It’s because people have hated on the 718 that I wanted to know if the GTS version ameliorated some of their concerns and if it may change their minds. Totally logical poll.
What I didn’t expect is that virtually no 718 owners would respond. Almost all responses are from 981/987 owners which is clearly a selective bias.
As far as throttle response, it’s laggy. A power chart has zilch to do with that. A non-scientific Motor Trend test of the 991.2 Carrera showed that there is considerable slower throttle response in that car over an NA car. No reason to think it’s better on the 718.

Probably because it uses a single turbo and the Carrera uses twin turbos... I know Porsche introduced this tech on the 997 Turbo, but who knows what has changed since then?
