Default 718 GTS Official Release!

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/prod...ess-14393.html

New 718 GTS Cayman and Boxster models released. Didn't see this posted anywhere so figured I'd put it up. What do we all think?

Thanks for posting. No surprises; same usual GTS formula: slight boost in power from fundamentally same motor as S trim, some nice option content, and the usual black exterior trim and Alcantara / red stitching interior trim.

Still not interested, because of the 4-pot turbo motor. And given the choice to buy a similarly equipped 981 Cayman GTS or Boxster GTS for same money, I’d buy them CPO all day long instead.

Folks, the 981 Cayman and Boxster GTS (and especially the 981 Spyder and GT4 unless and until Porsche comes out with 718 version of those with detuned versions of the 4.0 NA motor from the 991.2 GT3) were the best Boxster and Cayman variants ever made and remain so despite this.

Gotta say, Porsche, getting a little tired of the Alcantara. How about modifying the GTS formula a little to do two-tone leathers instead of all the faux suede? History won’t look kindly on all these dark grey Alcantara interiors.

I’m new around here but who are you? It’s a brand new Porsche, I’m sure it’s not too shabby.

Who said shabby? Just that it’s not as enjoyable as 981 due to lack of flat 6 NA motor. Last week I test drove a 718 Cayman S and found it extremely disappointing in terms of 4-pot turbo motor’s feel and sound. That’s all. If Porsche would just put back into the 718 a flat 6 NA engine, all’s forgiven.

Okay, so you don’t like the sound. You must not have been disappointed with the power since you didn’t mention it. (Positive or Negative). Do you have any positives?

Since the car's pretty much the same as an S powerwise, it's really whether the styling bits add anything to the car. Gotta say that Carmine with black wheel combo in the pics looks fantastic. The problem is nothing can save that front bumper. Porsche missed that so hard on the 718 and this one just looks busier, but not any better. I still think someone could make serious coin selling an aftermarket front bumper for the 718.

Tired formula. 15 hp is a joke.

The only saving model for the 718 line *might* be the Spyder and GT4 models when they are announced and seems a lot of rumors say they will be NA. Unfortunately, even with a NA engine, the bumpers and looks are going to be marginal at best if they look anything like the new GTS.

Which begs the question, why even offer the GTS? Base, S, GTS and GT4/Spyder? Just don't know who the buyers are here for all those models.

The styling differences aren't great either. I prefer the standard front end, and alcantara does nothing for me personally.

The less than 5% power increase will be all but unnoticeable.

It must be all about the option package. If you want all those options then the price is good. If you don't want them then...

Of course, maybe it's the GTS badging.

No mention of a Sports Exhaust in the press release? Odd... it was a specific feature for the for the 981 GTS. Maybe they gotten to the point of embarrassment and are avoiding it altogether?

The Spyder and GT4 should look closer to a 991.2 GT3 than a 718 GTS... at least that is what they did for the 981.

I love the Alcantara... functions way better than Leather. Cooler to the touch with high heat and warmer in colder weather. Plus is grips unlike leather. There is a reason race cars use it.

I think most are on the same page as Lapis... myself included.
