928-4
Hello
New to he list, mostly owned rear engined Porsche's but i now own a 928 Special...a 81 Artz Kombi.
But this one, the 928-4 is supposed to be in the US.
It was a joint venture betwen AMG and Porsche....anyone here owns this one?

I believe that was the car that was at the Amelia Island Concours de' elegance this year. Search for Amelia Island. MGW_FL posted a ton of pics and he also spoke with the caretaker. The car is in a private collection and isn't driven.
Congratulations on your new car. It is truly unique.

Not w/ AMG but with ACS... I nearly bought that car 5 years ago. Went for $25k then I guess about 2 or 3 years later I saw it on Barrett Jackson auction on Speed TV and it went for a staggering $44k! Go figure!

Actually, James, it was neither AMG nor ACS - it was ASC (American Sunroof Corporation). I heard there were four four-door 928s built by ASC, but have only seen evidence of two. One (the one shown above) is in the US, the other is at the auto museum in Langenburg, Germany. (edit: Picture attached)
Porsche never built a 4-door - they only built the four seater for Ferry Porsche's birthday. The two have nothing in common.
I asked Ferry's chauffeur and fleet manager about the ASC 4-door, and he assured me that a such car was never registered to the Porsche company or part of the fleet.
Welcome, Thomas, and congrats to a unique 928! We had many discussions here about the three cars you show - you might want to do a search here...

Nicole,
Giving me crap about my dislexia is not very nice.... Heck I probably misspelled that too...
ASC indicated to me when I called about the car that they had in fact built two but did not say where they were...well, except the one above that was at their factory with very low miles on it... I figured with a car like that you are ASKING for TT trouble and NO ONE would be able to fix it... Well not without a healthy does of fabricating!

As I said in an earlier thread: We're going to hear forever and three days long that this car was built by AMG - but the guys at AMG have never seen or even heard of this car... You've got to contain rumors before they spread.

So, it seems we have:
- One four-seater with 2 doors built by Porsche
- Two four seaters with 4 doors built by ASC
- Two wagons converted by Artz
- Two 6-wheel trucks (one in Germany, one built in the US and residing in Germany)
- One raised 928 SUV (928 body mounted on truck chassis, built in Dennark, residing in Germany)
And now we still have to find out how many
- Nordstadt-Golf
- bb Targas and Convertibles
- Carelli Convertibles
- Jurinek Convertibles
- Gemballa/Völl Convertibles
- Other convertibles
- 4-wheeled pick-ups
- ...
Anybody up for some detective work?

Wow, thanks al lot guys....and thanks for sharing
Very interesting the things you have on the 4 door 928, thought it was strange that AMG had something to do with it....
So Nicole, do you know if it is this museum that has the other car on display? :
