Jerry Sloniger's book says 10 were made in total as Volkswagen wouldn't allow more to be made. First car had 240 hp and manual gearbox, eight out of 10 had automatic gearbox, some were based on 300 hp ROW S. Six were sold to Germany, two to Austria and one each to France and Switzerland.
BB brochure shows side picture of silver/possibly burgundy US model convertible with non standard seats. It has sidemarkers and black rear bumpers. Also has metallic radio antenna mounted on top of windshield frame. I think side profile is best looking of all 928 convertibles around. If this car is in USA someone should did it up.
Your list is very good. Its just missing Sbarro Golf(s) and maybe some of the wildest Strosek's like gullwing(s) and supercharged car(s).

Wow, thanks al lot guys....and thanks for sharing
Very interesting the things you have on the 4 door 928, thought it was strange that AMG had something to do with it....
So Nicole, do you know if it is this museum that has the other car on display? :

Very nice! I wonder, if the clear turn signal and side flasher lenses are from my store. I do remember selling some to Norway...
Just FYI: The seats shown are from a later model, though - this style wasn't available until the 85 model year.

Ok:-)
Some things are not original yet...as you said the seats are from a newer car.
But they suit me very well and i like them.
And the clear lences and the cup mirrors are not correct.
But i rather like the style, not sure if i will change that details.

I don't think we've ever heard of the other one here. At least not that I can recall. Have you done a search for "928 Wagon", or "Artz" here?
Also you may consider asking "sweanders" or one of the other Swedes here - maybe they know anything.

In the last picture above, check out the Audi that's parked next to the 928-4. That's how other cars looked at the time... a great illustration of how far ahead Porsche was in vehicle design.
There is one mystery about the headlights of the 928-4. The images below show a different set-up that - in my humble little opinion - does not look as good as the original.

Yup... We were just in the planning stages on the new house so I knew I was not going to have money, so I passed, but I could have had it for $25k...

...
So, it seems we have:
- One four-seater with 2 doors built by Porsche
- Two four seaters with 4 doors built by ASC
- Two wagons converted by Artz
- Two 6-wheel trucks (one in Germany, one built in the US and residing in Germany)
- One raised 928 SUV (928 body mounted on truck chassis, built in Dennark, residing in Germany)
...
Anybody up for some detective work?

(Ooops, did I just swear in the church ?)
Forgive me, but I can not help the Pacer jumping to my mind when I see this rear angle shot of the 942.
