Default OPRV for an 85.5?

I'm trying to install the replacement OPRV for an 85.5. Clark's calls for an 944 107 035 11 p/n which is what the handwritten part number says on the package. The valve hangs up when I try to install it and wonder if it is the wrong part. The OPRV fitment tool slides in perfect.

Can anyone tell by looking if this is the right part for a one piece replacement for the three piece OPRV?

Thanks,

are you putting a late oprv into an early car? I think the block or housing may be different. Or is this just a replacement for the stock one?

If this above picture IS the one your trying to install, it WON'T fit. Its the later style, and is longer than the earlier "1 pc". You can tell immediately, by the threads on the nut. These are straight, to the leading edge of the nut. The earlier style one, has a tappered lead in on the nut threads.
IIRC, the changeover to the "later" style 1 pc OPRV was after late 1986, for the '87 model cars, and thats the one you show in that picture.

Whats wrong with the original 3 pc? Make sure that bushing/sleeve inside, going into the block is fully seated and tight. For either type of OPRV your gonna install.

Heres a comparison of what they look like side by side. Not the best diagram, butt, gets the point accross.

Another comparison. The easiest way to tell the two apart is the early retro-fit OPRV has the o-ring at the very tip.

87+ OPRV

I think I've posted those two pics everytime this question comes up...which is pretty often. Mine doesn't show the critical different lengths like yours though.

They sent me the wrong part. It was labelled with the right part number for the early replacement, but looks like the replacement for 87 on. The o-ring is not on the end but in about 1/8 " and it doesn't have the tapered thread.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion.
