Valets Give Porsche to Wrong Guy, Wrong Guy Steals Porsche

This must be a really bad joke.

I’m guessing that has to have gone through Carlo DiMarco’s mind after hotel valets gave his $125k Porsche Panamera to the wrong person, who didn’t have a ticket. Or maybe when that wrong person and the Panamera never showed up again. Or perhaps when the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Houston told DiMarco they weren’t responsible, since they used a third party valet service. Or perhaps when that third party valet denied liability as well, because their own insurance doesn’t cover theft.

Well, early on the bad joke stopped being funny. But over a year later, police still haven’t found the car. And DiMarco’s own insurance company will only give him about half the vehicle’s worth. So now he’s taking action.

According to ABC 11 News in Texas, DiMarco has “filed a lawsuit against Hilton Worldwide, franchise owner HDH Tenant, property management company Kokua Hotel and Enterprise Parking Services, the independent contractor providing the hotel’s valet services.”

DiMarco is suing for negligence and fraud, and seeking between $200,000 to $1 million. So hopefully the bad joke will end up with DiMarco laughing all the way to the bank.
