Ultimate Luxury SUV Comparison: Mansory Porsche Cayenne vs. Range Rover Sport

Mansory Porsche and Range Rover Sport

We compare Mansory’s Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport models to find out which offering deserves the title of the Ultimate Luxury SUV.

Porsche was a pioneer in the performance SUV segment long before Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Bentley introduced their utilitarian offerings. The Stuttgart-based performance car manufacturer introduced Cayenne to the world back in 2003 and even though it was a commendable off-roader, Cayenne’s design received mixed reviews.

Only a couple of years after Cayenne made it global debut, Land Rover introduced its very own sporty mid-size SUV- the Range Rover Sport. The model was one of the most challenging builds for Land Rover but the company finally had a contender to compete against Porsche’s offering.

Over the years, Porsche’s high-rider has evolved a great deal which bodes well for the German car company as the popularity of the SUV segment is on an all-time high these days. This is also the reason why tuning house Mansory decided to turn Cayenne into a flamboyant super SUV. Range Rover Sport was also subjected to Mansory’s signature treatment in the past and the title of the “Ultimate Luxury SUV” continues to be a point of contention between the two models.

Mansory recently announced an all-new customization program for the third-generation Porsche Cayenne lineup. This involves a complete redesign of the car’s exteriors and extensive use of lightweight carbon fiber components. Mansory also offers similar aesthetic enhancements for the Range Rover Sport and both cars receive a vibrant dual-tone color scheme.

For the Range Rover Sport (right), Mansory has dispensed with several stock panels and replaced them with bespoke carbon fiber elements for components like the hood, diffuser, ORVM housings, front grille, and door sills. Cayenne receives a more elaborate carbon fiber treatment that trickles over the air intakes, wheel arches, and front & rear aprons.

Both cars also get bespoke rear spoilers and ride on 23-inch matt black alloys. The Y-shaped five-spoke alloys come wrapped in ultra-slim 315/25 Continental performance tires.
Mansory has remapped Cayenne’s ECU, so there is plenty of performance for the tires to handle.

The most powerful production model in Cayenne’s outgoing lineup produces 542 BHP, but the power output of the 4.0-liter V8 in Mansory Cayenne has been bumped up to 690 BHP and churns out 664 lb-ft of peak torque. Mansory’s Range Rover Sport is also powered by a V8 but the supercharged 5.0-liter motor only manages to produce 620 BHP of power and 590 lb-ft of torque.

Cayenne’s interior is wrapped in diamond-stitched Alcantara leather and flaunts exposed carbon fiber accents. The color scheme of the space has been designed to complement the car’s paint job and exude a sporty vibe.

Range Rover’s interior on the other hand has been designed to emulate quintessential British styling elements. Quilted leather and wooden trims adorn several surfaces throughout the cabin which have also been color-matched to complement the SUV’s vivid paint scheme.
Mansory’s Porsche Cayenne is the sportier SUV of the two but the cars are so evenly matched that only personal taste can ultimately determine the extent of their allure.
