U.S. Open Champ Angelique Kerber Celebrates With a Panamera

With Maria Sharapova dropping the ball big time, there was room for a new tennis star to act as a Porsche brand ambassador. Back in April, Porsche put their money on Germany’s own Angelique Kerber. And now, five months later, she’s the U.S. Open champ and the current number one player in the world.

Coincidence? I think not. Porsches just make people better.

To celebrate such triumphs, upon her return from Flushing Meadows, Kerber was welcomed home in style. Awaiting her at the airport in Munich on Tuesday morning was this stunning Porsche Panamera Turbo. The idea was for the car to take her to a photo shoot and press event, but Kerber had other plans. She insisted on seeing for herself what that 550 bhp could do.

Here’s what Porsche’s Chairman of the Executive Board, Oliver Blume had to say about his team’s newest star: “In climbing to the top of the world rankings and winning the U.S. Open, Angelique Kerber has written sports history. She’s a fantastic sportswoman and a role model that young people can base themselves on. We are proud of our brand ambassador.”
