They show us what the purpose of the design was, what the intentions were, and where the creators hoped the car would someday go. They show us not only the history, but also the prospective future of what Porsche would become. They give us one small look at a timeless machine that has led to what we have today. This is an amazing thing.
In the video below, we get to look at a vintage Porsche commercial where Ferdinand Porsche himself tells us exactly what Porsche’s legacy ought to be. He talks about the power of independence, describing his hope for Porsche to always stand out from the rest. He mentions the danger of committees, and the importance of his company staying small and independent. All in all, he tells us why Porsche is outstanding, and how he dreams it will always be. We’d like to think that now, in 2016, that dream is still being met.
