These days, the rage is all about GT3 and GT4, but it’s important not to forget the greats that heped paved the way. To close out the year, Supercar Driver — the website that followed rich guy Paul Bailey as he used a P1 to pick up a 918 — turned back the clock to make sure some of the supercars of old are getting their proper recognition today. Focusing on the ’90s in this particular video series, SD looked at the Acura NSX, Ferrari F50, and Lamborghini Diablo SE30 — all amazing cars. But this is likely the one you really care about: the 1996 Porsche 993 GT2.

The GT2 was born out of homologation and the company’s desire to race a variety of levels, including Le Mans. It began production in the early ’90s and was based on the Porsche 911 Turbo. After weight savings and power increases, you get a car that weighs 2,844 lbs (1,290 kg) and puts out 430 horsepower. Oh, and it’s not rear-wheel drive, but instead has power hitting pavement through all four. If that all sounds like a handful to you, it’s a natural assumption. The GT2 earned its nickname: The Widowmaker.

This one, which itself was crashed early on in life, is right-hand drive, which makes it even more rare. Check out the beauty in the vid below.
