This Bahama Yellow Porsche 912 Will Make You Smile

If you believe that beautiful cars are indeed pieces of art — and honestly, as a Porsche enthusiast, how can you not — then you’ll enjoy hearing Porsche owner and artist Antoine Gaslais talking about his Porsche 912.

As you can see in the majestically shot video below, Gaslais is the proud owner of a “perfectly imperfect” Bahama Yellow 1967 912, aka “the four-cylinder 911,” according to Petrolicious.

Galais is currently a screenprinter, but he’s also a renaissance man, with experience in graphic design, illustration, advertising, and publishing, and now, thanks to his project car, he’s bringing together all of his gifts into a “single creation.” And what a creation she is: an original engine, original interior, numbers matching piece of art. But like any good piece of art, it was a labor of love.

Galais searched for a vintage Porsche for nearly five years. Then one day, he bid on this 912 at auction, and all of the sudden he was the proud owner of a car that didn’t run. He immediately questioned his decision making. After a year in his friend Julien’s shop getting all the original pieces working again, Galais was finally ready for a road trip, “60s style.” 25 miles outside of Paris, the engine gave out, and he questioned his decision making even more.

So the car sat idle, while Galais thought about all the money he’d wasted. Then Julien bought a 1967 912 for himself. He put a new engine in it, and was nice enough to take the old one and swap it in Galais’s broke-down Bahama mama. And she’s been running ripe ever since.

In the video, Gaslais says “…The color is crazy, like a Beetle or a Bus. It makes people smile. Always.” And we can certainly see why.
