Porsche's 1919 Globetimer UTC: The Ultimate Watch for Porsche Enthusiasts

Inspired by the iconic car, the 1919 Globetimer UTC aims to be Porsche Design’s 911 of watches.

Porsche Design was founded by the Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, aka the father of the Porsche 911, and with this new timepiece they wanted to embody the ideals of Porsche and the 911.

One of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s first projects was a chronograph wristwatch. As Porsche says, “He designed it in accordance with the same principles of perfect legibility, ergonomics and the instant recognition distinguishing the cockpit of the Porsche 911.”

The design of the 1919 Globetimer UTC is directly tied to the Porsche 911. The watch does not look like a 911 per se, but Porsche Design says that the pure and functional aesthetics of the watch are directly inspired by the Porsche 911.

You cannot be inspired by a Porsche 911 without performance. Porsche Design allows you to tap into the “performance” of the 1919 Globetimer UTC with the mere press of a button. With a select button push you can reset the 12 hour hand to local time, change the watch from day/night, even change time zones moving west or east across the globe. Staying true to being “like a 911”, the 1919 Globetimer UTC is made out of the lightweight often sports car used metal titanium. Titanium is key into molding the watch shape into the previously mentioned 911 aesthetic design.

Whether you are hitting the track at Laguna Seca then flying your way to the Yas Marina Circuit, this watch can make sure you don’t lose time. On your watch, gaining time on the track is up to you.

The ultimate globetrotting Porsche enthusiast timepiece will go on sale in September with a starting price of roughly $6,735.
