Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Crossover Stationwagon EV Announced by Porsche 2021

Porsche announces Taycan Cross Turismo, a crossover version of the Taycan EV, and performance and power figures to blow your mind.

We’re sure you’re familiar with the stunning performance of the Taycan family. However, Porsche has officially taken it up another step from the gorgeous Taycan sedan we have come to know and love. While the Taycan is, in its own right, a fantastic car with remarkable handling capabilities and daily usability, Porsche has taken the latter and turned it up to eleven with the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Porsche announced the Taycan Cross Turismo officially, and we can’t get enough of it. Though Porsche themselves steer away from the phrase “station wagon,” it’s hard not to call it one. Station wagon doesn’t have to be a four-letter word, though. The new Taycan Cross Turismo’s body profile is as beautiful as it is functional, and functional is almost an understatement. Furthermore, this new hatchback boss equipt with some impressive power figures and remarkable offroad capabilities. Let’s dive in.

Taycan Cross Turismo power figures and trims

There are four available variants of the sporty new crossover, each coming standard with the 93.4 kWh performance plus battery. Each trim level has an overboost mode for launch control, just like their sedan counterparts. Also, like the sedans, every example is all-wheel-drive standard. The power and performance specs of each of the available trim levels are as follows:

The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, with 380 horsepower and 476 horsepower in overboost mode, will do 0-60 MPH in 5.1 seconds. It has a top speed of 136 MPH. The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, with 490 horsepower and 571 horsepower in overboost mode, will do 0-60 MPH in 4.1 seconds. Its top speed is 149 MPH. While these are definitely not numbers to shy away from, the turbo models are where things start to get bonkers.

The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo has 625 horsepower standard and bumps up to 680 in overboost mode, allowing a 0-60 sprint in just 3.3 seconds. If that won’t quite do it for you, then the Turbo S model may be more your speed. The Turbo S has 625 horsepower as well, but in overboost mode cranks the power up to 761 horsepower. It’ll do 0-60 in just 2.9 seconds. Both the Turbo and Turbo S models have a top speed of 155 MPH.

More than just a sports car

The wonderous wagon was made with adventure in mind. Each model has a world-class all-wheel-drive system with adaptive air suspension as standard. It also features “gravel mode,” a driving mode specifically engineered for driving on the path less taken. Furthermore, Porsche offers an offroad package that increases the ground clearance by an inch, giving that extra little bit of offroad clearance. The fun doesn’t stop once you reach your destination, either, as the Cross Turismo comes with the option to add e-bikes to your purchase. That way, you have the full adventure kit ready to go. All you need to add is a water bottle.

Overall, the Cross Turismo is an excellent addition to the Porsche family. If you were held up on a Taycan purchase because it didn’t quite have enough room for you, you now have an excellent solution. Prices start at $92,250 for the entry-level model and range to $188,950 for the Turbo S model. It’s expected to be available in the US mid-summer 2021.
