Take a New Kind of Tour of the Porsche Museum via Drone

Porsche Museum Drone Tour

To show off its latest and greatest drone, one company managed to film this amazing and sometimes scary footage of the Porsche Museum.

With a constantly rotating list of exhibits and plenty of historic machinery, the Porsche Museum is on every fan’s must-visit list, a place that we’ll simply never get tired of walking through, time after time. Of course, those that don’t live anywhere near it can’t really do that, but we can visit via one of many virtual walkthroughs that we’ve come across over the years. However, this latest virtual tour of the Porsche Museum in a new video from DJI is a bit different, because it was recorded by a drone.

For those that can’t make it out to Stuttgart, this is essentially the next-best thing, and it’s a pretty unique way to view those sacred halls, too. To film it, DJI deployed its newest drone – dubbed the Avata – which is a compact, first-person view (FPV) unit. The tiny, palm-sized piece offers up 4K stabilized video and is quite agile, all of which is pretty evident in this short clip.

First, we get a nice nighttime look at the outside of the Porsche Museum before the drone flies inside the building, flying past dozens of amazing Porsche vehicles ranging from the Carrera GT to the Type 360 Cisitalia racer, getting shockingly close to many of them as it makes it way down row after row of historically important vehicles. Heck, it even gets under the hood of the Dakar-winning Rothmans Porsche 953, through the window of a 911 GT2, and in the clamshell of a 917K, too.

While there are certainly some scary moments – for both us and Porsche, most likely – this video is undoubtedly amazing to watch, and it clearly demonstrates the drone’s unique capabilities. However, we’re not so sure that we’d try and replicate such an act ourselves in our own garages, because, well, this is just a bit too close for comfort.
