1974 Porsche 914 Bumblebee

Stop, you had me at “bumble bee Can-am edition.”

That’s what I want to tell the poster of this Craigslist ad advertising the 1974 2-liter Limited Edition 914 you see here. Sure, she has 97k miles. Sure, she’s unrestored (though some work’s been done with OEM or equivalent parts). Sure, she needs a wrench twist or two, and perhaps a touch up here and there. But hot-damn if she ain’t unique, right? And for $29,000, CoA in hand?

Oh boy, my wheels are turning. And I’ll bet I’m not the only one. But wait, there’s more.

This specially equipped, numbers matching 914s is a limited production model, one of just 1000 cars sold in the U.S. with similar paint and parts. According to a 1974 Porsche-Audi dealership newsletter, the car features “special all-black interior, pressure cast alloy wheels, front spoiler, limited edition paint and trim, front and rear stabilizer bars, and a striking ‘negative’ stripe.”

Striking for sure. This one in particular sports the zippy little 95 hp 2.0-liter four-banger with the 5-speed manual, fog lights, and the triple-gauge center console, which Jalopnik says is the configuration to have.

But most of all she’s got that black over Sunflower Yellow “bumblebee” paint, which is the cooler of the two paint options available with this LE — just barely cooler than the Light Ivory over Phoenix Red “Creamsicle” option, as you can see in the gallery below.

So, what do you think, is she worth 29k?
