Scintillating 930s and Carrera GTs Set to Heat Up Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach

If you’re in the market for a Carrera GT or 930 Turbo, you better get yourself to Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach auction. (Or at least get yourself a dependable proxy.) That’s because Porsche will be well represented this weekend, April 8-10, when ‘ol Barrett’s hammer starts dropping.

Based off results from Jerry Seinfeld’s recent auction offerings at Amelia Island, which didn’t exactly fly off the blocks, Business Insider (perhaps prematurely) believes the Palm Beach sale could offer some tea-leaf-reading opportunities: “It means the Barrett-Jackson auction may be another data point in a burgeoning trend: after years of explosive growth, collector car prices may finally be settling.”

Perhaps, but if the samplings that BI picked as representative of the lot are any indication, than the collector Porsche market should still have a fighting chance of staying hot.

There’s a 1977 930 Turbo with 52,000 original miles on her, plus a few goodies added. Or there’s one of the ultra rare and highly collectible 1989 930 Turbo Cabrio “Slant Nose” models. Or how about Olympic skier Bode Miller’s former 1984 930 Turbo, which was given quite the 935 slant by DP Motorsports, and then restored by its current owner? And last, but certainly not least, there’s a couple prime examples of the supercar that appeared on more bedroom posters than perhaps any other vehicle: the Carrera GT.

All in all, it looks like a pretty stellar auction. We’ll see what happens this weekend though!
